What has happened to weed ?

I'm talking about going back and reintroducing what was lost. I am not campaigning to go back to 16 week grows for everyone. If the strains we know today hadn't HAD to come from stock that had it's genetics ravaged, there's no telling how many MORE flavorful and medicinal strains would be...

To soak or not to soak is the question!

Here's another tip. Place the paper towel in a ziploc baggie and hang it from a pushpin in a warm place, so the taproot grows straight down and doesn't try to twist in circles.

To soak or not to soak is the question!

Here's the thing: A seed has a waxy coating, to protect it from the elements and environment until it finds a wet spot on the ground to sprout. The water must soak through the waxy coating and into the outer shell to trigger it to sprout, indicating a good place to begin life. When a seed gets...

    spider in the Grow room

I'm in Virginia, which is quite possibly the home range for Black Widows. They don't bother me. I have crawled out from under houses to find them hanging from the brim of my hat. I usually find a nice cinderblock for them to live in. They are not aggressive spiders and only want to bite their...

What has happened to weed ?

You are ignoring what I am saying, because you have no context to understand my point. You are judging the quality of something you've never experienced, rather than just saying "OK, man. I don't believe you, but maybe I'll try it for myself." My point was the loss of terpene groupings and the...

What has happened to weed ?

You can't argue with dedicated ignorance. It's perfectly OK to me if words lose all meaning for the folks who never bred so much as a vegetable. They can wander in circles and the only good herb they will have is what others give them. They won't know the difference anyway. All they want is the...

    spider in the Grow room

Surprised myself. I struck like a ninja. He never knew it was coming. He was busy trying to intimidate my cat. He went to heaven a bully.

What has happened to weed ?

You can continue to miss the entire point for as long as you like. Admit it nor not. Like it or not. Today's cannabis strains are based upon strains that were bred to reduce smell and isolate THC production. Lots of things were lost when that took place. Breeders are beginning to notice that by...

What has happened to weed ?

" A landrace strain is a variety of cannabis plant that has less diluted DNA than other strains of cannabis. That means landrace strains have not been crossbred with another variety of cannabis. To take the distinction even further, landrace strains are usually indigenous to a certain part of...

I can tell you've been paying attention to the breeding programs announced by various seed companies. You don't know what you don't know, do you?

What has happened to weed ?

a landrace is a localized strain that breeds true. The Strain Hunters didn't ruin all the Cannabis in the world. Arguing ineffectually I would say, from lack of information.

What has happened to weed ?

You are entirely correct. The only people who will argue with you are the ones who weren't around to smoke herb in the 'old days'. Here's a 'secret' for you. Commercial, before mass market breeding that creates poly-poly-poly hybrids with limited genetics, was almost always landrace sativa buds...

    Your latest seed purchase?

I had a craving for some Cindy99 and tried to make a purchase through Brother's Grimm. I was suffering from an exceptional bit of pain before I got the sale completed, due to issues at MY END, with my bank and Paypal dragging things out. My pain levels got to the point where I shouldn't have...

    Working with landraces

And here is what I think I can do 'better': "As a matter of fact, most seed companies invest in breeding programs aimed at selecting superior female plants, while male plants are deriving from the standard morphological analysis: an individual male is then used as a pollen donor in crosses...

I actually understand the process I will take pretty thoroughly. I even have Strawberry Supermale from Humboldt seeds put away still, if I want to try some complicated breeding projects.

    Seedlings not growing

Before I allow myself to get concerned, I would normally apply some beneficial bacteria and some Hormex. Maybe first light feeding I would go super light, but introduce them to humic acid and Kelp. Might be an enzymatic thing, too, if the seeds are getting older.
