Pictures of your DIY lights - Post your pics!!!

Here is my first light. It is built with items from Pacific Light Concepts. He was very helpful with my order. Really appreciate the service from him. Anyways it is (8) 3590 cobs at 3500K run on a 1.4 amp driver. It has two on/off switches that turn off one side each. It is set up for...

for anyone tired of M3 drilling and then tapping....

I am glad it is working for you. Here is my experience with lower quality tools. Had a jigsaw and on the first cut the base bent up to the motor. I have a chop saw that has a one piece forged fence that is to the right and left of the blade. It is not straight and on one side is about a...

for anyone tired of M3 drilling and then tapping....

I would rather spend the money on cobs than a drill press. So I use a drill that I have and self tapping screws. And if I am buying a tool it wont be some cheap Harbor Freight one that I have to replace it 1 to 2 years. But since I mostly will have it just sit there most of the time I will...

for anyone tired of M3 drilling and then tapping....

I did not mention that my final assembly is using the same screw that I tapped with. It is a black screw and will blend in with a black heat sink though. And the holes are not a square pattern. They are in a rectangle. So if you dont pay attention with which hole you use with a jig like mine...

for anyone tired of M3 drilling and then tapping....

I drilled threw the sink with a 18 volt cordless drill. I stopped to add oil to the holes 3 or 4 times while doing this. When ever the drill bit slowed down in speed I oiled the hole again. This made the chips fall of the drill and cleared them out of the hole. I had enough oil that the...

for anyone tired of M3 drilling and then tapping....

Yesterday I drilled and tapped 32 hole with that oil the screws above and a 7/64" drill bit in 45 minutes. During that time I checked on my chicken, set up the tools, then let the chickens out, and drilled and tapped the 32 holes.

I drill a 7/64 hole and drive these in and they tap their own hole. https://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/drywall/screws/specialty-screws-accessories/grip-fast-6-x-7-16-pan-head-metal-stud-screws-100-pc/p-1444451973563.htm Except I buy the one pound box.

If you are going to sell them just offer it as a option.

    Using the dimmer

It is less than $10 per driver. That is cheap if you need it when it is hot or your plants cant take that much light.

I just got rid of my quantum kush clone. Did not like the smell. To me it smelled like stall dish water. You know the water you left out all night when you camp. Just a nasty smell.

My order for 4 drivers was in process when the defect was found. I was informed about it by email with in a half hour of it being posted here. I think I was reading about it here when I received the email notice. After few emails back and forth I decided to take 2 of the defective drives...

first built. advices welcome. Jerry From KingBrite

Yes but from where in China was it shipped from. And chips are more likely to get damaged and they may have required better packing. And where is it shipped to, east coast west coast? But yes that is almost twice the price.

I should also mention my reflectors were the f13838 plastic ones and not glass like the OP's are.

I ordered 16 pin heat sinks, drivers, cobs, holders, and reflectors and the order said 46 pounds. So this is not a light order so the shipping seems right. This order is 2.5 times mine so 60kg looks right on to me. And that coming from China is not cheap.

    LSD Power Drivers

Sorry if I come off preachy. But I am battling heat issues for 3 to 4 months per year and I am space limited. but I can still see why 1.4 amp drivers are what people want. It does not cost that much to run a few extra drivers to get a higher light out put. It is just common sense to me...

    LSD Power Drivers

Um not even close to 50%. Go to Pacific light concepts page and price it out. I did and for the 3590 cob, chip mount, reflector, reflector mount, heat sink, and thermal pad for 4 sets the cost is $317.16. This does not count the cost of a frame to hold it, screws, wire, power cord ect. The...
