    long term storage

first timer here - i have about 1.5 lb harvested and slow-drying - my house is about 65%rh and 77 degF, it has been 75-90% and 85 degF outside all week. seems pretty good to me - it is all trimmed well and on drying racks in a dark spare room with ceiling fan stirring the air. getting about 6-8...

    help with diagnosis

this is a mature Pineapple Punch plant, close to harvest, outdoor grow, drip irrigation, tropical climate in summer (southeast texas), 100% organic, soil is used for veggies year after year, i use only organic Microlife fertilizer, and amend with my own horse manure-based compost enriched with...

my first grow - a success for me

100% organic outdoor grow due to circumstances beyond my control i had to go ahead and harvest - trichomes were all hazy, no clear to speak of, and a few were looking beige-ish on the flowers and there were some sugar leaves with come amber. 90% of the pistils were brown. i have been sampling...

one thing i just want to confirm in my own head - IF there was really an issue with botrytis, would it indeed be early diagnosed by slicing the bud in half vertically? makes sense to me, but i have seen nothing in my interwebs reading about this.

THANK YOU- your explanation was most helpful and i definitely know what to look for now. i am curious though why more people dont screen for mold with uv, especially after cleaving a bud in half to expose everything. i had a few scares though because i went through and trimmed the tips of a...

and finally, here is that bud tip with the leaf that had one shriveled lobe sliced in half, all is green and lush to me.... ?? the chunk in the upper right is showing nothing but insides, like looking at the sliced side of an apple, total insides exposed

i just examined 2 dozen colas and saw no others like this one. and that tip bud in pic 3 is the very one that i sliced in half, and i saw nothing in there but did you? i really think that brown leaf was the result of that bud and another one getting hit too many times as i try to slip past it...

no caterpillars, combed through the whole plant and found 1. i really dont think i have any issues, i was mainly looking at trichomes and wondering what stage i am in, etc, but everyone thought i was trying to diagnose a problem. yeah this bud has taken some manhandling being on a corner so...

the tarps were for hat and full sun at 100 deg, i had some heat stress in August and that saved them. the heat seemed to kill off the underbrush and dense stuff, where the mold would form, and all that area is wide open. also the tarps hide them from the only neighbor that could possibly see...

went out with a uv flashlight after dust and before dawn and saw no issues anywhere, from what i understand most molds/fungus/rot will glow as well as insect eyes of course

that bud is in a bad location and gets brushed a lot when i pas by going to the corner so thats probably physical damage. started just walking through my basil now because i knew too much of that isnt a good thing

ok so 2 out of well over 3 dozen buds have a single dead sugar flower lobe, all else looks fine, here is the plant, and i took that one bud, photographed it whole then split down the middle. i am not seeing anything but if you see it say so. and if so, i would likely harvest tomorrow.

    Trichomes, clear vs amber

i agree, well said. i just made some oil from immature buds that were storm damaged and its fine with me - still going to go at least a week though, i am afraid of the bud rot sneaking up on me in this extremely humid climate i am in. plus i have to go out of town for a few days and i am afraid...

more storm damage than i thought....

after a closer examination i found several other broken twigs as a result of Nicholas, near the center with less support. not gonna let it go to waste of course so i dried the immature buds in the oven at 170deg or less for just a few minutes so i could break it up a little easier, then...

    Survived Tropical Storm Nicholas

....looks not too worse for the wear, although it was a minimal Cat 1 upon landfall by the time it got to me 50 miles inland we had 40-45 mph winds and 3" of rain - two twigs seem to be all that got damaged, so i trimmed them off - they were some wimpy inside twigs with just a few small flowers...
