Organic super soil mix from scratch - for ROLS

Yes 4:1 is correct. Did it read 345 right away or after a few hours? Either way I agree, more fertility generally recommended.

    CXB3590 1500W

Cree CX series uses Alumina Nitride ceramic (AiN) , which has the potential to conduct heat almost as well as aluminum, although they do not specify the W//mK of the material they are using. The aluminum used in our HeatsinkUSA is 6063-T5 and 6063-T6 alloy which is 200-209W/mK. Not sure what the...

Organic super soil mix from scratch - for ROLS

That is good that you split it up if it is anaerobic and wet, the air is the only thing needed I would not add sugar. If it still smells strong then I would say it still needs more cooking time. The other possibility, if it was too dry the whole time and has not really cooked, you would still...

Organic super soil mix from scratch - for ROLS

Heavy duty trash bags, usually 2mil thickness and 55gallon. Yes it can lose some water because the cooking creates CO2 and heat which pushes water vapor out of the tote along with the air. It is OK to add some water back in .

    Air Cooled 630 LEC

Very nice hood Interesting data too, 98% reflective and only 3% loss through the glass. He said it was miro aluminum but I thought it was the miro silver that was 98% and the miro aluminum was 95%. If I understand correctly the miro design uses a layer of antireflective glass to protect the...

Organic super soil mix from scratch - for ROLS

I usually cook it in contractor bags with 50-100L of soil in each, makes it very easy to thoroughly mix them up. The smell will be strongest in the first 7 days and then it should mellow out to the point where it has almost no smell, just a nice soil earthy forest soil smell. If it did get too...

    FLIP CHIP OPTO LUNA 300!!!

The 3000K curve looks similar to the 3000-3500K we have been using, based on the height of the blue peak relative to the orange peak so I will use 3000K for this comparison. From the Apollo 2400 specs, the 3000K is 88lm/W (~27% efficient) at full power 48A (2434W) and 113lm/W (~35% efficient)...

    COB efficiency Spreadsheets

    Some parallel options HLG-120H-36A can run 3 Vero29s at 1.23A each or a pair at 1.85A each HLG-185H-36A can run 4 Vero29s at 1.38A each or 3 at 1.84A each or a pair at 2.76A each HLG-240H-36A can run 4 Vero29s at 1.56A ea or 3 at 2.1A each

And possibly they do not want their LEDs to last 100 years running at 30C hehe

    FLIP CHIP OPTO LUNA 300!!!

Sorry I wasnt referring to your datasheets as being confusing specifically, I was referring to the evolution all LED datasheets in general having a mixture f Tc and Tj figures. I felt like I had a better understanding and ability to compare different LEDs when everything was in Tj but I...

    Matching Drivers and COBs

Yes the HLG-185H-C1400A works with 3 Vero29s in series, you should get up to 56W per COB at max.

    another COB question (bit technical)

You have it correct. The HLG-185H-C1050A should be able to put out up to 1130mA. The B version probably 1100mA so you might get up to 37W per COB

    Matching Drivers and COBs

As far as performance/efficiency/output, they perform the same. As far as pros and cons of the wiring and driver choices there are many differences.

    FLIP CHIP OPTO LUNA 300!!!

The older spec sheets used to list everything at Tj25C (junction temp) but the newer ones list lumens at both Tj25C and Tj85C. Recently the specs sheets have started using a confusing mixture of Tj and Tc (Case temp of the actual COB or solder point temp). Tj25C is unrealistic for the most part...

    Matching Drivers and COBs

I think the best way to check each COB when in parallel would be a low current clamp meter because an inline ammeter will interfere with the circuit. BUT they are at least $127 for a decent one. You could just check the voltage of each COB and get a pretty good idea though.

    selecting an HLC series driver

I am no expert but this is how I understand it. The power factor in the case of AC-DC switching power supplies refers to harmonic distortion in the waveform The HLG drivers are power factor corrected so they attempt to correct this distortion as much as possible. The result of an imperfect...

    selecting an HLC series driver

    I tested an HLG-185H-C1050A (maxes at 190V) for efficiency at various voltages and various levels of dimming. The driver was powered by 120V AC. @1130mA, 190.1Vf, 93.6% @525mA, 177Vf, 93% @1130mA 144Vf, 92.8% @706mA, 137Vf, 92.3% @479mA, 133Vf, 91.3% @1130mA, 108.5Vf, 90.9% @480mA, 100.5Vf...

Are COBs better than the blue and red LEDs?

Comparing them in terms of conversion efficiency and cost/PAR W, the monos seem to be lower efficiency and cost more. The exception is the blue, but we typically only use 10-20% blue so that doesnt help mono's case much. When you consider the labor involved and the cost of lens/reflectors, the...

    FLIP CHIP OPTO LUNA 300!!!

I was wondering the same, very good question. COBs pulsed at room temp so that Ta, Th, Tc and Tj all equal 25C?
