Introducing CobKits.com - specializing in DIY and Citizen COBs

I did not, the heatsink has a 'ledge' that I fit into the angle aluminum rails. When I was building it, I had ideas for expansion/larger space, and I wasn't sure how much spread my small tent and a single plant would require. It has pros n cons. I suppose one could tap the edge of the sink for...

Introducing CobKits.com - specializing in DIY and Citizen COBs

Arctic Alpine 64 GT Rev 2 - CPU coolers good for up to ~70w? Cheap, and effective. For my low clearance (3' ceiling), I think active cooling helped the situation. With more clearance I'd no doubt go with ~105-140mm pin sinks (depending on wattage pref).

Introducing CobKits.com - specializing in DIY and Citizen COBs

FWIW, I ran 4x B3590 (3k) on a 185-1400b driver in a 2x2x3', no optics. Active cooled, and as close to the ceiling as possible. I ended up running it dimmed down quite a bit, in the 100w range. I think 700 or 1050ma would have been fine for my situation. 4 efficient COBs is a lot of light in...

    Pre Drilled Heatsink for boards

Series, parallel, or series-parallel are dependent on the driver used and drive current. There are pros and cons to each, but not really relevant/a concern in the way its applied here IMO. I suspect bare is enough (as in, best bang for buck) for smaller reflective spaces/tents, specially with...

    Pre Drilled Heatsink for boards

I, as well as many others, have thought the idea of side lighting and/or vert lighting with these. Put them along all 3 walls of the tent and way under driven (25w ea?). Super thin, w/o a heatsink?? I dabbled with the SMD 5050 and 7020 LED strips (as supplemental) in my small 2x2x3' tent as...

    Nevergood's high power garden

Did you do a comparison of 100k lux to PAR by chance? Great thread. Thanks for doing the testing and documenting your thoughts and details on these larger high power chip setups.

    Matching Drivers and COBs

I know its been said before, I got the idea from RIU. But, my own solution was to run a switch in series with the pot. This way you can break the circuit completely and KNOW you have max power. :) I think the 10k resistor in series w/ a 100k would be easier if doing many kits/lights. But...

    Just another opinion: No doubt.

    Grow Light?

I've been looking through a lot of COB designs and manufactures lately. This Timergrow 'Framework' product is great for getting good spread that fits your space. Some, especially higher power multi-COB lamps are too small for the space they intend to cover. Physically, the frame isn't large...

diy grow light from 100w ebay cobs

I started in cobs with the cheap white CN cobs. They do work great. I doubt the quality or efficiency is there (compared to quality name brands), but, the cost of learning and designing is really cheap when you aren't worried if you fry a <$10 cob vs a $40+ chip like a 3590. I wouldn't do a...

    COBs for Greenhouse?

Hey all, doing some research for COB LED options for a greenhouse environment. Single, high output units, with a small foot print, that can be mounted high with good spread, for supplemental coverage, CE rated. I looked at the SKing 400+. Anything similar from our resident RIU COB building...

    ...All Things Vero...

Agree, I was thinking (3) V29s on a HLG-120H-C1050B(or A), for a cheaper and readily available option. You could add more chips & another driver if you prefer more density. Maybe, if you have some vertical space, (2) chips @ 1400-1750 could work if you can find an efficient driver combo.

Yet another B3590 build; 180w UFO KILLER! ;)

I've been getting by with the 120mm PC fan (under driven), but I also have the lights dimmed down a ways, which seems more of a requirement for distance to canopy than for heat management. However, I am considering an adjustable 6" Hyper Fan due to its efficiency at low power, yet ability to...

Yet another B3590 build; 180w UFO KILLER! ;)

Long time since an update. Imgur Link I've now got a Space Cheese well into flower (day 50) in this tent (2x2x3' tent, 4x CXB3590 @ 1400ma-dimmed). Not a perfect start to flower again, but happy with the tric production, and shes starting to fatten up. Next run will be start to finish in the...

    My 8-3590 cob diy.

I like your trellis system. I'll likely have to use the 'screw as an anchor' idea for my next design. I've been threading cord through a couple holes I drilled through my pvc..it was a bit tedious, and not as taught as I'd like. These screws will solve that! Thanks. Keep up the good work, I...
