    I am not a total expert on this, but that power supply doesn't look like a Constant Current model. You want CC fed to COBs.

    I always blow air on my heat sinks. That way you are sure to get air moving over the hot surface. When it is hot, do you want to stand in front of the fan or behind the fan? I had some sucky computers too, TRS80 was the worst.

    Is there a generally accepted root ball shape? It's it a Christmas or an up side down Christmas tree? Or maybe a cylindrical shape, i.e. Long and narrow. Just trying to decide the best planter shape. Can a planter have too much volume indoors?

    In the two examples you cited, the cost to dissipate a unit of heat is about the same, so even tho you can get more cooling per inch on the 10 inch unit the cost is proportionately the same as the 7 inch unit.     Gonna do my first DIY LED with Cree CXA3590

    I might have placed on set of cobs in the middle of the fixture and the other 1/2 the way between there and the edge, not on the edge. The heatsink will dissipate the heat better that way.
