Bridgelux Vesta super tuneable strip build

exactly! and this way I can run them @ 6" off the tops for really good penetration. I ran a similar setup before w 12 boards in a 4x5 closet and was able to get an almost perfect 800 ppfd across whole canopy. that was using these giant heatsinks tho so it was super heavy and I had to hang each...

Bridgelux Vesta super tuneable strip build

So not quite done yet, waiting on wire for the power cord and 5mm screws for the endcaps, but decided to go for some QB288s at full power to see how they compare with running at low current. Each board gets its own 150W driver. 3 V2s and one Rspec. Going into a 4x4. Got another fixture up...

Bridgelux Vesta super tuneable strip build

trying to be productive at work before I split for the weekend. yeah that's gonna be impossible now. I literally just zoned out of a conference call drooling over this and just got asked a question and had no clue what they were asking me lol. mind blown. gotta level up and get another build...

Adding fans to my led build

thanks for this, I always assumed incorrectly that in parallel circuit each string got equal current.

Adding fans to my led build

I agree 100%. if u had a CC driver it might be able to work. but not with a CV driver in parallel doesn't seem like a good match. if the fans are 4W at 24V it's using @ 165ma of current. you would have one parallel string pulling less current than the strips at 480ma. if magically at 21V...

Parallel Wiring Samsung Strips. And Voltage Hogging

not sure of overall amps available and maybe I'm missing something but what if u ran each pair of strips in series? so like flip the bottom strip upside down. then u just have 4 wires one for each channel +/- and the wires connecting each pair of strips, but wouldn't need anything on far end...

Electrician please comment solar off grid

i totally missed both the Black Dog and the 840W part. Black Dog is 15 yr old technology. Don't waste your money or electricity. We can help you DIY something if you want up to date tech for the cheapest $. If this is for a personal grow, how much do you need on a monthly basis? You can...

Electrician please comment solar off grid

You ask questions in a public forum, we give you honest answers. Lots of us have thought about this and/or tried it. Especially if you are disabled (my son has serious health issues and I've been thru all of this) that it's literally impossible to be able to manually switch lights on and off...

    True LED Light Wattage??

that's not accurate for LED. if you get something with latest gen Samsung LM301B or LM301H, or any of the Bridgelux EB3 diodes, then you are fine with 30w per sf, 35 if you want to push it. 480W should be plenty for a 4x4 especially for a new grower.

    True LED Light Wattage??

don't look at initial cost. look at long term cost to operate. LEDs win by a mile every time. they operate @ 10 degrees warmer ambient temps. for me this means a tent that is 81-84 degrees instead of low 70s w HPS. this means I'm only running AC 2 mons out of the year instead of 8. less heat...

    True LED Light Wattage??

Sorry to hear that you discovered this after your purchase. It is common for companies targeting new home growers to use deceptive marketing tactics to sell their lights. A little bit of research before hand helps a lot. And I don't mean watching YouTube videos or Amazon reviews. Those are...

    Veganic Grow 2020

Update for 2021. I ran this original mix above and it worked great. Then I got lazy and started just ordering BAS Light Mix. They changed the mix at some point and it no longer contains the Pinto Bean Compost, so I figure I might as well just mix my own again (plus have friends always asking...

Bridgelux Vesta super tuneable strip build

I've got another design I'm working on for standard 24mm wide strips too. Got a bunch of L04s I need to use up. but also thinking about the single row Vestas now, since they fit that same foot print. this would also be a little closer to @grotbags point, of the spectrum being blended better...

Samsung H series strips, Arrow seems to be blowing them out! what a deal!

oh no! i forget, did u add plexiglass shields in front of them? or were u running them bare?

Bridgelux Vesta super tuneable strip build

much easier. they must have a little spring mechanism in them vs how the ones on strips are just opening a clasp or something when u press to remove them.
