Sound like potential for a DIY lamp?

Thanks for chipping in, it was a lot your thread that made me start this project Guod! Thanks for the rules of thimb - If I remember correctly when defining + and - they got them the wrong way round right? I love the idea that all of our technology is based on a mistake lol.

Sound like potential for a DIY lamp?

Thank you so much - I have been scratching my head over this one and here you have brought me the answer + rep I say! Payday tomorrow so I'm going to screw the $100 budget and make myself a monster light :-D I know that if I spend another $100 then I may as well have bought a pre-made but would...

    checkmate...?

Sorry we have done this to ourselves. The amount of WORLD recycling that China takes onboard is immense and as such our wasteful actions and hypocritical green policies throughout the western world put them in an ever stronger position - Imagine your business is house clearing and antique sales...

    Astir Grow Led Panel Project...

OMFG. Are those 6' mahogany speakers? Talk about getting brought to a rapid climax aurally (see what I did there snikker) Please tell me that you don't listen to modern rock music with those delicate and beautiful things? They need Tchaikovsky, Bach, Mozart and shit loads of Rachmaninoff or at...

DUDE that bush looks like it's plastic it's so fucking healthy - good show sir good show! LOL I only just read that back. I think that may be a mis-translation, we should offer an apology to Guod or alternatively ask his forgiveness dude :D and always be respectful :peace: to the OP. On that...

Sound like potential for a DIY lamp?

Ok so an exciting day today, I got my resistors through! I can now start really mucking about with some LED action and as a result I have some pictures for you! This is thermal and concept test number one, included are: 50W resistor x 2 @ 2.2 and 3.9R they have aluminum housings in a fetching...

My research into light, LED and growing (as I see it)

That pretty much proves my point ^^ I noticed that Guod has posted some pics of his prototypes - I am totally excited to get his opinions of what he has found with them because my resistors arrived today! YAY. Still waiting on 10 LED and my driver but it'll be this week I'm sure, I tested out...

    DIY Modular LED-Light

Guod, prototypes! I don't suppose you have anything else on that work bench just sitting there waiting to help me out? It is awesome to see those 10 watters sitting there. Please would you be so kind as to answer a couple of questions for me? How hot did the heat sink get for your passive 30W...

    Astir Grow Led Panel Project...

Sorry never heard of that one - only the lizard people in Skyrim (Argonians lol) I've been a few places in Europe, Spain was probably my favorite closely followed by Italy, France was a bit erm... French. I have a plan to make myself a 220w panel for $100 - I'm a spot over budget and still have...

400w MH/HPS Grow Tent: Afghan Ryder, C99 Hybrid + more

Thanks for the Ryder shots - useful research of my apparently quite near future :E Real sorry to hear about Herman tho. I look forward to dry weights and pics! Out of curiosity was there light leakage? They aren't photo-period but I'd get stressed if someone brought me food and then took it away...

    Astir Grow Led Panel Project...

Fair enough :) I've lived with PC noise for so long I actually miss it when it's off (yeah I know it's a sickness) and can vouch for the insane longevity of them even with gallons of greasy pipe smoke in the air bongsmilie years yes - many years no, not at 100% efficacy. Also Euros would mean...

    Astir Grow Led Panel Project...

Dude, you have 11 of these panels? Thats like a $1000 of aluminum right there. I'm not convinced this product is going to sell too well - people buy bells, whistles, and specification in my experience (as a consumer) so this will be seen as a fairly low powered solution by the average joe and...

    Electrical question with voltage

UK Electrician by any chance Steph? You are bang on but of course you know that and prolly a butt load more that'll save some folks from Darwin awards in the future. Doc Greenthumb - listen to this man he will not see you dead, even if he is just a touch towards the zealous side. :D

My research into light, LED and growing (as I see it)

Thanks Pet, looking though your grows etc I notice that you are a fellow autodidact in the extreme! Personally I enjoy research but I don't like trawling for it so much, It is sorely tempting to gather together everything I find here in RIU with links and credits to the OP... I found that Video...

Why isn't/hasn't this been/being taught to physics students? Hmmmmm

Hehe there's no guarantee that anything would be taught in any school or college, the US is after all the same country who's GOVERNMENT banned Darwin from it's schools for a very very long time. I think there are still political lobby groups who to this day protest that the theory of evolution...

    336x-pro New LED user

Hi there nice vid, is the plant on the right under the Penetrator and the one on the left under the stealth grow? The reason that I ask is the plant on the right/back looks like it has the entire lighting rig of a Pink Floyd gig shining on it but the one near the door just looks normal LED...

LED Party Cup Competition - Official Thread

I struggle to believe that this is even possible, if you did this to a human (locked in an understairs cupboard and told to "Act like an adult" 12 hours a day from day 1) you'd pretty much make Golem from LOTR and he would definitely NOT smoke well lol. I think those that had the balls to try...

Eeeeh Pet (sorry ahh couldn't elp it like - I am a terrible Anglophile, too much Frasier) that is a good shout, I got a butt load of this stuff left over from doing my Laminate flooring (Thermal acoustic underlay): if I remember my Satellite design 101 then gold is a good reflector of red...

    Astir Grow Led Panel Project...

Lol I agree with both of you, Sailor is totally right about Passive cooling as it is the most robust solution within limits but this is like saying that we should use silver for the wires in our homes because it has the highest conductivity... Guod has made a very elegant active cooling design...
