First Grow, Bagseeds, Come take a look!!!

I used my pH meter in some regular tap water, just messing with it, and it read 8.5 pH. I thought I needed to calibrate my meter, but when I put it in the 7.0 pH reference solution it read 7.1. Tap water is weakly alkaline in general I discovered. It does sound like you are using a lot of pH...

    Standard relector or cooltube?

When I was buying my ballast, the rep at the hydro store that I went to said I could use a digital ballast to switch between MH and HPS so I went digital and got both bulbs. But I was buying a 250watt setup. The rep said that digital ballast weren't as good as traditional ballast for big lamps...

    does it look alright

Instead of cutting the leaves off you could try to use string or twist ties to move the fan leafs out of the way of the bud site. You want to have the budsites get as much light as they can, but you don't want to hamper the plants ability to photosynthesize nor do you want to waste the energy...

    Atlantadirect's first grow DWC closet

Since I thought the problem my plants were experiencing was nute burn, I decided to test it out in a harmless way. I simply added a half gallon of pHed water (5.5-5.7) without adding more nutes, inorder to dilute the solution. I did this this morning and, fast foward to now, the plants look much...

    Cali's Kush Journal..19 Clones/2000 Watts.

I look forward to watching this grow progress. Are you growing in soil or hydroponically? Also, I just want to confirm something I thought I read somewhere, is there a heuristic that says 50 watts per a plant is a good number to shoot for? I only ask because that is the ratio you have for this grow.

    Atlantadirect's first grow DWC closet

I've come to the conclusion that the problem is to much nutes. Should I change the reservoir to a weaker solution? The plants don't seem to be suffering to much, they seem quite healthy aside from a few burned leafs. Maybe this is a question that I should ask in the hydroponics forum, but I...

    What caused this leaf damage?

I just upped the nutes a few days ago and then this issue manifested itself. If people think that nute burn could be it, I think I agree. Also, crazy mental, I'm LSTing my plants. I'm basing my technique on this post. That post said that you could begin LST when the plant had 3 or 4 sets of...

    Atlantadirect's first grow DWC closet

I posted in the plant problem forum and one person suggested that it might be nute burn. Does that seem likely to people here? I'd really appreciate it if someone helped me figure out what caused those leafs to develop necrotic brown spots and whether or not I should be concerned.

    What caused this leaf damage?

Does anyone else have an opinion about what they think the problem might be? Do these leafs look like hydroponic nute burn? Or are they something else?

    What caused this leaf damage?

I haven't been able to spot any bugs, but I did up the nute concentration of my DWC recently. Here is a pic of the full plants. You can see a little bit of the leaf damage I'm talking about on the plant in the front, on the left. You can see I began LSTing them a few days ago. If it is over...

    What caused this leaf damage?

Hey everyone, I noticed some funny looking dark spots on a few of the older/oldest leafs on some of my plants. The spots later turned brown and the leafs became brittle. Here is a picture of a few fan leaves I cut off three of my plants. I've looked through the section of the grow FAQ about...

    Atlantadirect's first grow DWC closet

Here is an update on the grow. I began the project 25 days ago on December 19th. A few days ago I began LSTing the plants and they seem to be responding well. The plants have, however, developed some sort of illness. I think it might be because of thrips. Here is a picture of the most damaged...

    RyaNayR's Grow Journal

I don't think so. All it does is raise the humidity around the sprout, which is good for it.

    RyaNayR's Grow Journal

Firstly, I would like to say that I am a huge fan of palindromes. Second, I think "dirt cheap" grows are really cool, espically ones were you are recycling (the Miller Lite cans). And third, I think your sprout did pop up pretty quick, but I am new to this so I don't have any experience to back...

    Chimera's C Plus Grow

I'd like to do something like that, build a cabinet for growing, but I don't have much experience working with wood nor do I have any power tools. So its a longer term goal of mine, maybe that will be my next project after I complete my current grow. Could you post some more pictures of your...

First Grow, Bagseeds, Come take a look!!!

Hey JoePro, are you suggesting that you only feed plants growing in soil when they show a deficiency and/or signs of being hungry? Do you still water on a regular basis?

    Atlantadirect's first grow DWC closet

My plants have been in the DWC and under the 250 watt MH for two weeks now and I am pleased with their progress. Mostly I'm happy that all four plants have survived thus far. Even Yellowy has turned green and developed a good set of roots. Yesterday morning I decided it was time to begin their...

Your growing area looks nice. Is that a cabinet you're using? Best of luck to you, I look forward to seeing what "green crack" looks like.

    My first time

Hey Buzzy, I just wanted to say good luck on your grow. I began my first grow only three weeks ago, the link is in my sig, so I'm still learning too. Your journal is very thorough with its step by step details and I like that. There were some things I read that raised my concern for your...

    Gstatus's first indoor. (CFL)

I bought my superthrive at the local hydroponics store. I think you can find it in larger gardening centers. Next time someone is bothering you about why you want a certain product you could feign ignorance and say "I don't know, its on the list my friend/parent/spouse gave me."
