Stealth Garbage Can Grow Log -Anonyymous

Frawsti, try putting cups of ice or frozen water bottles in there. They'll lower the temperature by about 5°F and because of your fans, the humidity should stay relatively the same. However, if your fans go off, your humidity will probably shoot up to about 80-90%. I've got a 120mm and five 80mm...

Stealth Garbage Can Grow Log -Anonyymous

Great idea, Anonyymous! I've got a PC case I'd set up for growing, but I decided that it was going to be a bit too small for me this time around, and that I was going to use a laundry hamper or something instead. I was sorta iffy on the laundry hamper though and was thinking about going with...

Do you think this fan and filter would work good for a rubbermaid grow box?

You'll need intake and exhaust fans. That fan might be a bit odd, I'd go with computer fans or an inline fan. I use this filter with some dryer sheets and it works well enough.

    Nirvana Shop - Review

I'll keep this updated as things progress, to let everyone know about the genetic stability of this company's seeds. But without further ado, here is the review. Nirvana Shop (www.nirvanashop.com) Selection: The selection at Nirvana Shop was fair, not too big, yet not too small. A lot of seed...

    Clothes Dryer for Grow Box???

Indeed it should, along with the lid, it's generally airtight so I imagine you wouldn't have too much trouble with light as it has that lovely rubberized lining. EDIT: Forgot to mention, be sure to get some sort of charcoal filter/scrubber. The only way the smell will have to go is out that...

    Clothes Dryer for Grow Box???

You could use the existing drier exhaust as a way to vent heat, no? Perhaps put add in an inline fan?

    Clothes Dryer for Grow Box???

Then again, PC cases are most often metal, and for the most part are fine with heat. With a drier you would need a lot of work getting it good to go if you wanted it to be stealth.

First Grow Ideas - let me know what you think so i can get this started

Phone charger, anything will work. Most people have 12V adapters laying around the house, I used one from an old Super Nintendo. They are the ones with the big round tips. I prefer to use heavy duty one, for example the SNES charger is 120V input with a 12V output, so I run all six of my fans...

First Grow Ideas - let me know what you think so i can get this started

I suggest newegg for the fans if you can wait for the shipping. As for quiet fans, I would recommend 80mm for intake and 120mm for exhaust. I assume you know how to wire the fans to an adapter, as you asked about separate plugs, so, to wire them all to the same adapter you just wire them all to...

First Grow Ideas - let me know what you think so i can get this started

Sounds pretty good, but a few things could use some work. With a HPS, you've got a lot of heat, especially in such an enclosed space. For something that big, you'll need a fair amount of fans, especially if you're using computer fans. I'm not sure if passive intake would be enough, if it's not...

HELP! 1st Grow - Heating problems!

Well, the frozen water bottle/cup of ice technique is working! I've got the bottom half of the waterbottle in a sock that's rolled over on itself, preventing condensation from getting everywhere. The humidity rose from 33% to 50%, which is good, as humidity should be between 60-70% during...

HELP! 1st Grow - Heating problems!

Just going to wait on these waterbottles to freeze up. I've got four that I'll cycle in 12 hour shifts. Swap them out when I wake up and when I go to bed. One set in the freezer, one set in the case. I'll update and tell you all how the temperatures are.

HELP! 1st Grow - Heating problems!

At the top, no. When they are lowered to be within 1-3" of the plant tops, yes. Their will be fans blowing on the lights until about... 3-4 weeks into vegetative growth.

    Closed refrigerator grow?

If you mean using a functioning fridge, then no. They are airtight and your plants would die. If you make a fridge non-airtight smell escapes as does the cool air and your electrical bill is through the roof. If however you mean a non-functioning fridge, yes it could be done with a good bit of...

HELP! 1st Grow - Heating problems!

Not sure what you mean by ballasts, do you mean these little bastards? If so, they're not hot at all. Actually, they are relatively cool, they are what I grab when I have to take the lights out to work on something in the case. The way the fans are in the case, the bulbs and those little...

HELP! 1st Grow - Heating problems!

I may add my fifth fan on the bottom of the case, channeling the cooler air from the intake upward into the rest of the case. I feel that might be a bit more beneficial than a fourth intake fan on the opposite side of the case. UPDATE: I made the light baffle bigger on the fan side, the...

HELP! 1st Grow - Heating problems!

The airflow through the front of the case is fine. I can feel it throughout the case. I suppose the fans could be stronger, but I've already exhausted my funds. I have one more 80mm case fan that I can use. The only spot it on the back of the case between the top exhaust and mid-rear intake...

HELP! 1st Grow - Heating problems!

UPDATE: Without obstructions of any kind, the case lights up like a Christmas tree but the temperatures are steadily dropping around 2°F every 5 minutes. Right now it's down to 82°F and has been that way for about 3 minutes. I'll update again at 3:45 EST. UPDATE 2: Well, 3:45PM and the...
