Yeah, my established White Dwarf thinks the security HPS is the sun. She's got LED on one side, CFL on the other, and HPS overhead and she's 84F with a pH of 6.75. Once I get my humidity up, she'll think she's in the Amazon.

Got the temp and humidity? Also, you didn't buy feminized seeds? So worth it for the few extra $$$. If you are going to use regular seeds you can wrap them in a banana peel and change the peel every few days for a total of two weeks before germination and every day opening up the bag to allow...

well there are grow lights and there are security lights--but they both have the same bulbs from the same few manufacturers--many people use security lights to grow--i have yet to find a difference in the specs that would indicate that it won't grow--guess we'll find out in a few months

That's correct. But do you have any info on certain types of HPS bulbs w/ some kind of different sodium or something that wouldn't be good for growth? I can't find ANYTHING online. When you're thinking of "sodium bulbs", you might be thinking of low power sodium--those aren't good for growing...

Well, here's my logic. People say HPS is best for flowering--and those come in 1900-2200 Kelvin. Mine's 2100K, the most common color temperature.

Did some research and my HPS has the same Kelvin rating as the bigger 150, 250, 400, 600, and 1000w HPS systems. I still don't understand which types of HPS would not be conducive to growing?

Good info. This HPS is truly high-pressure, none of that low pressure stuff. And it's the same lumen rating and warmth of HPS bulbs you will find anywhere, 2100k. Some 35w go as low as 1900k. Do you know per chance which of these spectrums are the best for growing with a HPS?
