I highly doubt hydro shops are staked out. Unless you grow indoors and your electricity usage is significantly higher now than when you weren't growing, I wouldn't be all that concerned.

Yes. This is bad, trust me. It's very, very cruel to do this to animals, mostly because they don't have the brain capacity to know what's going on after you inebriate them. Whether you notice it or not it will frighten them. On top of that, they don't have the brain functionality to handle it...

Well I guess I'll keep an eye on it. This way at least it won't need to be handled and checked on so much. I'll just know when I start to see it sprout. Anyone know how long it takes for an ungerminated seed to begin to sprout through the surface?

Thanks Nullis, I just planted it in about 1/4 inches into the Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil I had, lightly watered it, and then put two 26 watt CFLs on it. I feel better about not having to unfold towels and handle it so much. You think I did the right thing?

After about 60 hours of trying the paper towel method, I decided to just plant the seed directly into the Fox Farm soil I have. I figured maybe there was a PH issue with the water and the soil may sort that out. Also, I was getting paranoid that because I kept having to unfold the paper towel...

OK...I decided to just plant it in soil cause I'm thinking the ph of the water I was using was too high perhaps...plus I was getting paranoid about handling it too much. I just dampened the soil, put it in about 1/4 inch deep and put a little light on it to keep it warm...

Can I just plant it directly in soil?

Well it's been 56 hours since I first wrapped my seed up in a paper towel. 15 hours ago I moved it to a closet and sat it on a heating pad to keep it nice and warm. I just checked it and it hasn't popped yet... What should I do now? Should I just keep it there or put it in a shot glass now?

Thanks guys. I went ahead and heated some water up to where it was barely warm to my finger, soaked a new paper towel in it and placed the seed in that. I didn't use warm water before. You think that should be OK?

Hey guys, I ordered my first seed (Lowryder 2), wrapped it up in a damp but not dripping paper towel, then placed it in a glad tupperware container, sealed it up, and placed it in my cupboard. Well it's been almost a day and a half and it looks the same as it was before. Should I just leave...

I'm setting up my first grow box in a 32 gallon plastic storage container. I have a power strip with 4 CFL bulbs plugged into it. However, the bulbs are touching each other. Will this be a problem and or be a fire hazard? I know they still get pretty hot.

Pardon the ignorance, but these look like CFLs but I saw them at the store and they don't say CFL on the box at all. But they are right?

Hey guys, I'm going to start growing one LR2 plant soon. Probably in a 3 or 4 gallon pot in a 30 or so gallon storage container (roughly 2 x 3 x 2 ft) My question is, would using all 4 of these 26 watt CFL lights directed on the plant be sufficient light for it...

I've casually grown a few plants. But because they aren't plants that produce anything, I didn't really do anything to them other than set them by a window and gave them water. But every one I've raised is alive today. But...I've never grown anything for the sake of consuming what they produced.
