A mercury vapor ballast won't light a MH or HPS bulb. Also, I'm not aware of any MH conversion or HPS conversion bulb that will light in a MV ballast. I'm in complete agreement with the other posters that a MH conversion bulb in a HPS ballast is tried-and-true. :peace:
