I just ordered 60/40 flux core is it the same?

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

I have just found out the drivers I have coming are 14 awg coming out of the drivers... so 4 awg would be pointless I think... I'll wait until my new 15 awg wire comes and try with those. Hopefully everything will be fine at that point

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

I just set my iron to 300c and it worked this time the 4awg wire is stuck to the damaged led but I did notice the LED got extremely hot whilst doing this. Will this not damage the LED?

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

I could do that. Was hoping to save myself the trouble. My issue might have been that I was scared to go to hot on the iron I kept my iron to the 200c setting was afraid of frying the cob... It is a 65W iron and its max temp option is 450C what temp do you recommend I set it at? Also is it...

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

Due to doing my research I came across this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/t/diy-wire-gauge.892666/ The post by supra seems to suggest I needed 4AWG to ensure low voltage drop so I went for 4 awg

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

Ordered this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B002L5W80C/ref=ya_st_dp_summary?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I can only seem to find max 40% lead

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

If I end up needing to get ideal holders can I somehow glue the ideal holders to the heat sink instead of screwing them?

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

Right ok I'll look for a lead solder cheers. I just don't want to ruin anymore cobs... Got 352 cobs to solder and I ruined my first one

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

Ah right I was going for lead free I thought it was supposed to be better I just ordered a new solder thinking this one might be better https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01LSJ7FZO/ref=ya_st_dp_summary?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Am I best off buying a different one?

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

I've ordered some 15 AWG it's the smallest I can get... well its 1.5mm2 but converts to 15AWG. Hopefully that will make it easier. The pad on the clu048 1212 is so small it's just really difficult to get the solder to stick... I finally got it to stick after attempting for ages and then had...

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

I'm using 600w parallel drivers trying to keep voltage drop to minimum... I might have to just use 18awg wire and settle for 5% voltage drop

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

I can screw cobs in fine. Reason for holders is I'm struggling to solder the wire to them.. 4awg wire is so thick that I can't seem to get the solder to melt fast enough and get the wire to stick to the holder. I destroyed an led by leaving the iron on it too long trying to melt it

Glueing ideal holders to heat sinks?

is it possible to stick the holders to the heat sinks any other way instead of drilling? Ordered all my heat sinks and had them pre drilled but now I've decided to use holders instead of soldering since I have 640 soldering joints to do and I hate it. Hole spacing is different for the holder...

    Mean well dimming leads

Just looked at the wire diagram for these 600's again. Can't work out for the life of me what the RC + and RC- wires are for?

    Mean well dimming leads

I used one of the calculators provided on this website to work out ppfd which made me go for this many cobs. Definitely wasn't 1500 ppfd at 60w on those calculators. I have all the cobs and drivers now so I'll just had to dim more if that's the case. I have 9 gauge wire to wire between the LEDS...

600h drivers with 20 citi 1212 gen 5 cobs per driver. A mix of 2 90 Cri and 2 80 cri for flower room

    Mean well dimming leads

1500 ppfd with co2 is my aim. That's what my design is built around. Using citizien 1212 4 cobs per sq ft

    Mean well dimming leads

Great thanks. I was going to solder the cables rather than use a terminal block. Would that be ok?
