You're correct. I started to edit my post and add that some people do use them for just that but I got sidetracked. The every-day person usually doesn't have a need though.

EC and PPM meters aren't relevant to the topic, and are mainly used in hydro/airponics type grows to monitor solution strengths in the reservoirs.

Is there room in the pot still to mix some in the soil? Of not, go light on your water mix, and raise it gradually. It's not good to do a drastic change to ph levels.
