I dont think you will be able to grow a plant in a space that small to begin with regardless of the light you use.

When I first started out I was using MG soil and when I moved up to Roots Organics 707 mix I saw a huge difference. I am just about to wrap up my first DWC hydro grow though and I think soil is a thing of the pst for me. DWC is awesome!!!

I use HPS only due to the fact that the lumen output is much higher. MH is the ideal spectrum for veg but I feel the lumen output benefits growth more than the ideal spectrum.

Home depot sells 68 watt CFLs that put out 7200 lumens each for $15.

Dollar for dollar I believe you are waaaaayyyy better off with the 707 mix.

I used to use it with great results. I use Alaska organic nutes in soil now.

What is the actual wattage of those lights?

I would use 1000 watts in a closet that size.

I started using Roots Organics 707 mix and have seen huge growth differences since. I will never use anything else.

That wont be a problem. I actually purposely give my plants a 24 hour period during week 5 to kick up the growth.
