I usually see yellowing just before they start to root. The 400 HPS might be a bit too intense for them , i use a 26 watt CFL to root with.

Ive read info from other breeders about it being OK to remove SOME fan leaves during flowering. I remove a few on my plants, I just cut leaved that arent perfectly healthy.

Amen to that. I got flooded 2 weeks ago, water got to around 2 feet deep in out apartment. Had my ballast on top of a dresser, if I hadnt it would have made a bad day that much worse.
