Whoa, slow down homeboy..........I use HPS for flowering and vegging - only use CFLs for rooting clones.
Not that there's anything wrong with flowering with fluoros :spew:
That being said, try to keep my 1Ks about 18" away, so they'd have to adjust accordingly to the early flowering stretch.
Yeah, that shit is key.
Imagine you take a ten day vacation during the second or third week of 12/12 when the plants are growing 2-4 inches a day.
You could always just raise your light 3 feet higher than it should be and let them grow into it, but that's gonna cause some excess stretching...
I don't do it anymore, but up until the story below (basically 9/11), I can't think of a time when I didn't sneak at least a quarter under my ballsack on any domestic flight (never international).
I got arrested and detained on a plane for smoking weed in the bathroom the Christmas following...
That AC is not large enough for what you need - remember, the lights themselves are gonna generate 14K BTUs of heat themselves, and then you need to think about actual cooling the rest of the grow room.
I'm planning on getting two of those for my 20x10 garage, and I'm only planning on running...
Yeah, unfortunately that's just not much of an option at this point, although it wouldn't be my girl who cared - too much of a security risk.
I'm totally with you, and would prefer to use 220; I'm just VERY hesitant about running extra wires through walls and whatnot.
How long would it take...
So whadya guys think? Think two of those portables could keep my 10x15 area cool?
Certainly the 24K could, right?
Also, if the answer to question #1 is "no", would I be better off making one of the ACs a window unit? They're a little more rugged and heavy duty and could withstand hotter...
Spring for a dehumidifer - craigslist has used ones for cheap.
No sense in losing the majority of your crop to mold when you can spend $100 and get a dehumidifier.
Also, using my Magnum XXXL right now in my 4x4 tent, it's the shit (highly recommended).
Going with this guy (but getting it for $500):

Also, forgot to mention that I think there's a good chance that there's another 15 amps/120V running in there without me doing anything (75 amps, all 120V), which thoroughly...
Appreciate the help Caz, but as of right now I'm not sure that re-wiring is necessary, and am actually kinda certain it's not.
Depending on what you electrical/AC pros come back with, I'm thinking that one or two of the 14K BTU portable ACs are the way to go, and they'd each run on their own...
Thanks greatly for all your help last time; probably could've installed the additional circuits myself, but just paid an electrician instead.
Like a moron, however, I got both (20amps a piece) wired at 120V, and it's becoming increasingly clear that I really need a 240V circuit in there.
So...
Anyone know what would happen to the condensation from the back of the large window AC if it was mounted inside?
Would that water just form a puddle in the middle of my garage?
Sitting here with my finger on the "Buy" button for a 14KBTU portable, which I would use in tandem with a 1/2HP...
Lol, certainly dropped the ball on that - my bads :?
I'll try to make up for it with my 9/sf grow coming up soon...........clones should be rooted within the week.
That 8KBTU won't do a lick of good for ya.
2600 watts puts out ~10KBTUs just by itself, and then there's the room issue.
I'm in a similar setup (or will be, currently 1600 watts and expanding to about 3000 soon), have a 10x20 garage, and I'm getting an AC 3x as large as that (24BTU)...
Hmmmm...........as romantic and "Shakespearean" as a gory death caused by trying to grow weed in my garage sounds, I'm thinking I might keep that one as a last resort (although I definitely appreciate the help/input).
Anyone know of any threads where someone build a box to contain a window AC...
