When you change lamps from MH to HPS or swap 2700K cfls for 5600K that's what you're doing. Adding more red or blue light to the mix depending on what you need more of. So adding another light for more red is what you want to do don't bother swapping one out.
You could try finding some flat white paint made for metal and just spray them. Flat white paint is considered better than mylar by some because no hotspots
