What are the best diodes on the market right now? Anything on the horizon?

Any chance you could post a graph of the spectrum from your testing on the bridgelux thrive didoes?

Vermicomposters Unite! Official Worm Farmers Thread

I'm so thankful to have found forums that guided me to starting a worm bin. I have buddies that grow nice looking plants, but when I bring up my worm bins, they look at me like I fully lost my mind. I credit the little bit of success I have had so far being a newer grower to the vermicompost...

    90 cri samsung strips

I remember reading that quote a while back, thank you for bringing it up again. Seems to have sunk in a bit better this time around. Also as a side note, arrow does have some 90cri strips available at pretty cheap prices. They use the lm561b+ diodes and have pretty low diode counts so have to...

    24v vs 48v for Samsung V strips

Arrow has some delta lne 48v 100 watt drivers for like $18. Just throwing it out there as a possible cheap option for a driver with on board dimming for you. Best of luck with the build though.

Anyone Else Have Problems With Intense LED's and Organic Super Soil?

Dang and I thought I had a lot of amendments. I'm sure you'll get it all dialed in though and I'd love to see the difference between the different methods. I'm pretty much sold on organic soil for my growing method, but I love seeing the beautiful plants people grow with other methods. Curious...

Anyone Else Have Problems With Intense LED's and Organic Super Soil?

You have me wishing I had gotten some experience with other things before led/organics so I had something else to compare to. The only grow I tried with bottled nutes was a disaster. Built my own soil after that and have gone that route since. Luckily bought a timber cob light as my first light...

Vermicomposters Unite! Official Worm Farmers Thread

Good luck man. I remember reading about your previous trial, better luck this time hopefully. I would suggest doing like @getogrow said and try just a couple totes before investing in something bigger. Figure out a nice bedding mix to keep them happy first and go from there. I've been using...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Arrow has some 54v 150 watt delta drivers for under $20 right now. Figured I'd throw that up here for the guys who snagged some of the 96 boards. Seems like a nice little budget set up for some quality boards.

HLG-185H-48 running at 150w efficiency question.

I'm curious about this too. I have always read the datasheet's efficiency vs load chart as being the watts from fixture divided by rated watts of the driver. So in your case, 150/185=81% of the "load" being used. If that were the case, it seems like the driver would still be well above 90%...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

I'm no expert but from what I understand, the 24v waa driver would be "safe" to run in parallel because it has the onboard voltage adjustment as well. If the voltage is limited on the driver, even if one board were to fail, it would only allow the one remaining board to use up to that specific...

    HLG/ Mars/ other? sale guidance

I'm pretty sure they have the same two options as the hlg meanwells, one like @GrassBurner just posted with the io and vo on board being the WAAA version and also the WDAA version which is dimmed via a potentiometer. Arrow still has a few varieties of the delta lne drivers at a nice discounted...

    Worth buying BuildASoils soil?

Would love to hear what you think about the langbeinite down the road. You run some hlg qb's in your grows right? I was thinking the additional Mg in the langbeinite might be something that paired nicely with the strong leds. I almost grabbed some not too long ago, but went with greensand for...

    Worth buying BuildASoils soil?

Well said. From what I gathered so far, it's all about the compost source. After that it can be as complicated or as simple as you want to make it. That said, I have never tested my soils or really followed any kind of "rules" when amending after a plant is grown in the mix, so I could be way...

    LED HPS comparison.

Look forward to seeing how both these lights work out for you. I have a 3500k timber 2vs and two 3000k qb v1s that I used in different tents on some kale's not too long ago. Plants looked healthy in both, but the plants in the timber tent seemed to do a little better. Very visibly healthier root...

Mixing compost tea with organic feed?

Looks beautiful to me. Whatever you got going is working nicely.

Mixing compost tea with organic feed?

To be honest, I'm not really knowledgeable enough to answer one way or the other. I prefer to build my soil myself and then shoot for pretty much water only. I make "nutrient teas" out of some of the dry amendments at times, but the only bottle thing I use is yucca extract from time to time...

Mixing compost tea with organic feed?

I'm no expert, but I would probably keep them separate. Using the tea by itself should give the microbes a better chance at surviving and establishing themselves in the soil. Mixing the two before watering it in would just run the risk of diminishing your microbes you just brewed up in my...

Week 3.5 since light cycle change

I use peat as well when building my soils up. To be honest, only ever used coir in the worm bins as bedding on occasion so definitely talking outside of my league here. @rkron0413 Some compost/ewc, peat and some extra aeration mixed in with the coco/rootballs after this run seems like a nice...

Bridgelux EB Gen 3 High Output 4ft Strips

Haha, for sure. I'm stuck with a tiny little tent for now and have purchased some different things for the future, so always just thinking about what the "perfect" little addition to each set up could be. The bridgelux thrive spectrum looks somewhat similar to these at a better efficieny from a...

Week 3.5 since light cycle change

So just straight coco/perlite with the dry amendments? If so, I would maybe try some ewc/compost topdressing to try and help keep a healthy microbe population/get some organic matter in there. I always notice happier plants from a simple compost/ewc topdress. Will also help speedup the...
