    How close to harvest

If you want to go cheap, I've been using one of these for about 15 years. One of these days, I'll scrape the buildup off the bottom and smoke myself into oblivion. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/582221-REG/Carson_MM_200_MicroMax_LED_Portable_Microscope.html There are better, but if you...

    Kentucky hemp

I have every intention of doing exactly that. I doubt it will be in Kentucky though. I think the Bluegrass State will be a decade behind the trend for as long as I can see into the political future, although I do have to admit that Georgia surprised the hell out of me. Never saw that one coming...

If a plant was a hermie, wouldn't it show by week 3 of flowering?

Yeah, it always shocks me to see it because personally I've never had one go that fast. But I usually tend to stick to the same strains and same pheno for years at a time. When I have something that works the way I want it to, I tend to stick with it; don't jump around from strain to strain very...

    Slow bud maturation...

What are you using for lights and nutes? Got any pictures?

If a plant was a hermie, wouldn't it show by week 3 of flowering?

No, I think there probably is some truth to it. A lot of bagseed is from hermies. I could easily see how certain individual plants would be more genetically disposed to go hermaphrodite than other plants, and if you have bagseed from a hermie, it stands to reason that the seed would pass on that...

If a plant was a hermie, wouldn't it show by week 3 of flowering?

Wait a minute - that's the beginning of Week 3? As in, this is what it looks like after only 2 full weeks of flower?? Man, I wanna see pictures of that bud when it finishes. Don't let it touch the side of your grow room; it'll stick so hard you'll never get it off.

If a plant was a hermie, wouldn't it show by week 3 of flowering?

Yeah; watch your light cycle, temperatures, and humidities very closely, and that will minimize your chances of herminization. Your room is absolutely light proof during the dark cycle, right?

    Not sure what this is.

Also, what part of the plant are those leaves from? Are they at the bottom? Are all the leaves like this, all over the plant?

    First time need some help

It's almost impossible to tell you anything meaningful without pictures or at least extremely accurate descriptions. With pictures, we can tell most things at a glance. You say some of the leaves are curling - which leaves, and are they curling up or down? What color are they?

    help needed asap with ph

It's a weed, not an orchid. When you don't know what's going wrong, more often than not the best thing to do is nothing at all. Get out of the way and let it grow, dude. What kind of soil are you using, though?

    Seedlings with deformities

I would definitely do what Hotrodharley suggested and check your ph. Those holes don't look like they're caused by pests; they look as though they're starting out as small yellow spots and turning into holes. What's the ph of your RO water? What kind of lighting are you using? If you're using...

    Pheno hunting

There is no official number - any number of seeds you want to try out is a pheno hunt if you decide to call it a pheno hunt. Personally, I'd use as many as you have space to grow to maturity. You can't judge yield or potency until they've finished. Might as well try them all. Speaking for...

First Time Coco Grow - Can't Quite Figure This Out

OK, those pictures sucked. I took some more today during daylight, and these show the problem a lot more clearly. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Remember - 3 full weeks from seedling, just transplanted into coco a week ago (their second week of growth), PH between 5.5 and 6.2 (usually 5.8...

First Time Coco Grow - Can't Quite Figure This Out

Part of me still wonders if that might be small part of the problem, though. The thing I already don't feel comfortable with about coco is that even when I fill the drain tray, it never comes all the way to the top of the growing medium. I'm thinking of adopting the practice of doing a top-down...

First Time Coco Grow - Can't Quite Figure This Out

Ambient air temp in the tent itself is in the mid-70s, and the temperature under the light is in the high 70s to about 80F. Nute temperature is mid-to high 60s, and I keep an airstone bubbling 24/7.

First Time Coco Grow - Can't Quite Figure This Out

I feel like a total dweeb asking this, but I've never grown in coco before and I can't seem to be able to figure out what's happening. I'm getting a yellow mottling effect on many of the fan leaves, with the veins and edges generally a dark, healthy green, and yellowish mottling between the...

    Transplant shock

A lot of what people call "transplant shock" is actually overwatering. If a lot of the roots are exposed when you transplant, you can damage the root hairs on the root. It's those tiny root hairs that actually draw in the water. If you break them off, they'll grow back fast (usually within a...

Is It The Bulb, Or The Ballast?

Both the bulb and the ballast are brand new, though. I know that doesn't guarantee they're not defective, but it does make it less likely either have had rough treatment in their past. Clearly there's no way to even make a good guess until I simply start swapping parts. I'm actually going to...

Is It The Bulb, Or The Ballast?

I've got a problem with a new grow room. I have a 1000W Eye Hortilux Super HPS bulb, driven by a Cali 1000W digital ballast. The ballast is plugged into a Titan Apollo 14 timer, but I don't think the timer is the problem. What's happening is this - roughly 50% of the time, the ballast turns on...

    An oscillating fan question

That's a great point, and that's particularly important this time of year for a lot of people in northern climates. The air is drier in the winter, and it's already harder to keep the humidity levels up as it is. That's why I don't want fans hammering directly on the leaves or the grow medium -...
