Aussie High Lights – we're official

Possibly, but it would be some time away. The main reason is because there are a lot of strip options out there already. Strips have their place, but we like the boards for their ease of mounting and easy wiring. And they're not too far behind strips in terms of light spread either. In fact, if...

"High Lights" - high powered, CRI95 flowering boards made in Australia

We're doing OK – much better than others who have been caught up in the fires and lost everything. Thanks for the concern, and thank you for your support! :D

    KingBrite Strip/Board Hybrid

HLG R-Spec Quantum Boards are US$79 each. If you buy our boards and live overseas, you get 10% off tax. If you buy four boards or more, you get a 10% bulk discount. If you use the RIU discount code "FORUM", you get another 10% off. That brings our boards down to US$109 each. However, our boards...

Who says LED and CMH can't get along?

Yes, it does appear to be a bit of a heat lamp. That's why I suggested it as a compliment to LED. Especially CRI70 LEDs, as they usually peak around 580-600nm (which would fill the gap) and run quite efficiently. The CHPS would add red, far red, infrared (warmth), cyan, near-UV, UVA and even a...

    KingBrite Strip/Board Hybrid

Thanks for the kind words, diggs. I don't want to jack this thread, but there is a reason for the low-key approach. When @Prawn Connery came up with the idea for the High Light boards and we started working on them, he just wanted to get them out to a few growers and anyone on RIU who might be...

They're actually cheaper than you guys think. End of spam :D

    KingBrite Strip/Board Hybrid

Hi mate, someone else just directed me to this post. I did a quick calculation for 21 boards shipped to the UK, and by my calculation it works out about £1860, or around £88 per board delivered. If you go to our website and type in a UK address, it will automatically deduct 10% Australian tax...

Who says LED and CMH can't get along?

I missed last week's photos so here is an update at Week 5.

Aussie High Lights – we're official

At the current settings, it's pretty marginal and may be OK for veg. This is what it should look like at 26" and 70W per board (150W at the wall): If you dropped the lights to 18" at the same driver setting, it would be quite a bit better – there's really no need to hang the boards so high, as...

    Lux lumen?

Of course we also have a vested interest :D In addition to the Italian tests, the Or_Gro tests showed near-UV could produce cannabinoid and terpene levels on par with combined UVA/UVB, all of which were higher than the control LEDs with no UV or near-UV. We agree it's early days, but that is at...

    Lux lumen?

You should read the Italian study I linked to, it's all in there. Specifically, look at the spectra below and compare it to the yield graphs in Fig.2: As you probably know, Or_Gro did some tests for us in the US which aligned with the above results, but this time it will be a lab in...

    Lux lumen?

I used the word "bold" but Bugbee himself says it is an "amazing statement". What I would suggest is they either don't have the data, or they are not including UV in the equation. Even if they don't consider UV a "colour" (that may strictly be true, as you can't see UV, so it's not a "colour")...

    Lux lumen?

Did you see any from him? ;) There are certainly studies that show near-UV has an affect on cannabinoids. Here is one that repeats two sets of experiments with the same results: https://www.karger.com/Article/Fulltext/489030 There have also been side-by-side grows that have shown the same...

    Lux lumen?

I will only add that while he makes quite a bold claim that spectrum has no "major" effect on cannabinoid or terpene levels, at 39:17 he seems to contradict himself by saying "UV has the potential to trigger cannabinoid synthesis". I'd argue there is enough evidence to support the latter theory.

He might be concise, but you will thank me when you play that video at 1.5x speed! :D Great video, BTW - thanks for sharing.

Who says LED and CMH can't get along?

The best HPS lamps are slightly more efficient than the best CMH, but the spectrum is inferior. Here is a spectrum graph for 8 of the best double-ended 1000W HPS lamps. They all spike in the green (570nm) with a secondary spike in the yellow/red (600nm), and of course with that huge IR spike as...

Who says LED and CMH can't get along?

Here is a 3000K High Light UV board (blue line) plotted against a 3000K Samsung CRI80 board (orange line). This shows you the difference between a CRI80 and CRI95 LED source with a significant shift to red. The red:far red ratio also improves and while the area under the curve of each lights is...

Who says LED and CMH can't get along?

Here is the comparison between the two boards. The difference is one board (UV) has 60x Sunlike near-UV LEDs and 90x Nichia Optisolis, and the other board (High Red) has 150x Optisolis. There is not a lot of difference in the spectra apart from the addition of <400-430nm – which we believe is...

Who says LED and CMH can't get along?

No. There's really no point. The UV board has – what we believe – an optimal amount of blue, Near-UV and a very small amount of UVA. Terpene and cannabinoid tests have shown our boards can increase levels over standard LED (450-700nm) boards, and equal or beat the standard boards with...

Who says LED and CMH can't get along?

That is the way LED lights are progressing. But it becomes an issue of cost and complexity. Many growers just want to set and forget, which is why we built an all-in-one board with full 400-800nm spectrum on one channel. It works, and it is simple to use compared to other LED lights with...
