The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

Hi @eastcoastmo, No of course I don't mind! I just don't know if I'm allowed to mention it on the forum. Am I? The seeds come from the Small Village of Boria Bal in northern Afghanistan. Although it's further north than the Kush, the plants flower slower because the winter comes later. So Kush...

    What does kush smell like?

Hello, The terpene that dominates in most real Kush strains is Myrcene. Hence Kush smells very musky, earthy and citrusy and also gassy/fuelly. That explains why Kush has a sedating effect. Cheers,

When to flip to 12/12 ?

Hello @Leeski , It really depends on the strain. Some sativas need to start in 12/12 or even 11/13 right from the seed. Your plant is either an Indica/sativa hybrid or an indica. But it could more than double in size. You could probably flip it now. Next time you grow the same plant (If...

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

Hey there @eastcoastmo , Yes, they will probably be pretty cool. Some plants should be high in CBD like most Hash plants (Lebanese, Moroccan, Himalayan). The plants have been flowering for 67 days now. Some of them are already "ripe" but I'm going to let them go for a little while longer to...

First grow getting close. (I hope)

Hey @Sandman81 That's a beautiful SCROG, these crazy Sativas aren't easy to manage indoors, well done! I love that fox-tailing and the buds look frosty.8-) Is there no way to know which strain it is? I looks like a haze but I can't be for sure. It depends on the kind of effect you want. You...

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

@eastcoastmo Thanks mate!! Some will be ready in less than a week but most plants will still need about a couple of weeks. Hi growers and lurkers! The plants were flipped to flower exactly 60 days ago. I was expecting the plants to flower a bit faster but I'm surprised by the size of some of...

    Force flower

You could maybe try to build a cheap hoop house and throw a tarp over it?

    Force flower

Hello @Thebanktella I like to forceflower all of my pure Sativas for about a month before they can naturally flower on their own outdoors. That way I know that they'll finish when the sun is still powerful and before it gets too cold. Cheers mate,

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

Hello weeders! Here we are, 52 days after the flip. Most of the buds don't smell as skunky as their stems did. However, there are a few of them that do have a cool skunky smell. The others aren't bad at all either. There are a couple of plants that have a very pleasant sweet/floral fragrance...

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

@DonBrennon Hello! No, I flipped them when they were a few days old before they reached sexual maturity. That's why the flowering phase will be 5-7 days longer than had I flipped them later. Also the last picture shows the slowest flowering pheno out of all the plants so most of them will finish...

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

Hello Indoor growers and outdoor farmers! The plants have been in 12/12 for 46 days now. It's really interesting because at this point you can clearly notice the different phenos. Some are pretty fast flowering (The ones that stretched the least) while others are taller, and started flowering...

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

@CanadianDank thank you for bringing positive vibes :bigjoint: I think that going back to the roots/landraces is the best way to find something unique and bringing back lost terpene profiles.. I'll post new pics soon...

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

Thank you! Me too!! That was in high school 11 years ago! I had got some seeds from a classmate and grew them outdoors in a bramble bush, only 200 yards away from the school.. That weed was the skunkiest I ever had. I even kept some beans but I can't find them :wall:

    Hermaphrodite ???

Hello @Komodoghost , It looks like that plant was in flower before. Is it a clone that you re-vegged? And no, there's no way to tell whether a plant will herm just by looking at the leaves... Cheers,

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

@eastcoastmo Cheers man! @Seymour Green Thanks, I really appreciate the words of encouragement. I'm passionate about it, the RKS is by far my favorite weed. :weed: The plants are now 38 days into flower. There are different phenos and smells but 2 major groups: Some have broad leaves, thick...

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

@eastcoastmo Thank you man! ;) They were getting a bit too much nitrogen because of the seabird guano but I've been giving them plain water so it's all good now. Yes sure, I'm going to make some seeds. I'll pollinate a few branches on each plant tomorrow. @yes, I'm getting exited too, some...

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

Hey, what is up guys! The plants have now been in 12/12 for 27 days. I'm amazed by the dankness of certain plants stems. Let's hope that the buds will also have a pungent smell. Now it's getting interesting, we're about to find out how these plants bloom, the different bud smells and so on.. I...

How much electricity is too much electricity

Hi @mobone As a small scale grower, you have nothing to worry about. You would have to be running at least 4 or 5 1000w HPS before to take that into account. However, to lower your power bill, you can run the lamps at night and also use a light-rail. Cheers bro,

The Quest For The Old Skunky Afghani

Hello growers, Here's a little update 20 days into flowering. The plants are starting to throw pistils now and the stretch seems to be almost over. It wasn't a big stretch to begin with, The stems are some of the biggest I've ever seen compared to the size of the plants.

    Early harvest?

Hello, I may very well be a nutrient lockout. In you case I would water profusely with a much milder nutrient solution and some milk. I don't have to chop now even if the plants look bad. As long as the sugar leaves aren't dying, you can keep going!!
