Well.... I got them free lol! And the heatsinks, lenses. It was Northern Grow Lights sponsored build I bought the drivers and that frame, etc. So I can't complain, its a good light. Maybe I'll just turn it up a bit and run it another year. have to think on it.

@CobKits I have a Citi 1825 based light that's 4.5 years old. Should I replace the cobs? How much degradation has likely occured ? i'm wondering, if witha little drill work and a tap, I could mount a pair of CMX22 on my heatsinks.

I ran my own computer shop and was one of those nerds lol! Gave all that up after I retired. I built a few nice, watercooled, overclocked machines. We'd benchmark them then sell them. Ran a cpu with no heatsink.......... 2 seconds and it went POOOOF! hehehe

I'd be curious to see, how much if any difference is made by the thermal paste vs without. On CPU heatsinks it can make a difference of several degrees, but in that application your trying to dissipate heat from a small, radiating surface onto a larger surface. It likely will make a difference...

With fans on the heatsinks, 175 should be doable.

Use 18 guage stranded from the driver to just short of the light, then use Wago's or other wire connectors to transition to a short piece of 18G solid wire to the board. Wire losses in stranded are minimal for runs under 25ft.

Although they may be fine, this thread is only for genuine Horticultural Lighting Group Quantum boards. There are threads on this forum for these copycat boards, you should post in one of them. Those of us with real QB boards feel that these Chinese companies have stolen HLG's intellectual...

Fuck Allied! They screwed up the same order on me THREE times! I pay a little more at Moser but they have been outstanding for customer service. RMA'd an HLG320H-2800 with no questions asked.

I've been looking at the QB 144. I have a pair of 40" slab heatsinks from Heatsink USA that were to be used for COB lighting. But before I got the completed, I discovered Quantum Boards so they've been collecting dust. 4 QB 144 per heatsink would work very nicely I think. Hmmmmm...

Consider that by saving $10 - $15 your buying an inferior product, you have to deal with a foreign company to get customer support, and you have no way of knowing what LEDs your actually getting, ALL these companies in China are famous for lying about what LEDs they use. Also HLG offers a 3 year...

I believe I read in an overclocking forum that pulling air up through the fins draws heat into the fins from surrounding components. This might not hold true in an environment where the heatsink is the only heat radiating source.

Get a slate 5 Quad. Any custom heatsink will cost a LOT more! And it can handle up to 600 watts

pins radiate differently than fins, airmovement from the side has been proven to increase cooling better than a fan blowing down.

Tests have shown air coming from the side cools better than a fan blowing down on them.

So what's up with the anti HLG comment in your sig? Personally, the idiot who posted that is: A. full of shit and B. Too stupid to be growing. I don't see the value is using such a comment. Or is it meant to be funny???

Running LEDs at their maximum rated current defeats the whole purpose of LED lighting: efficiency. We're running lights here, not hot rods. More POWER! NO! Running QB 96s at max, considering the cost and efficiency loss, you might as well go back to HPS, efficiency at that level is not much...
