Depends on how efficiently you use your drivers...plus, over long distances DC travels much less efficiently vs AC. After much consideration I will also be mounting my drivers to my lights.

Not really. You would have to mount them on a heat sink. Way more trouble than its worth. You might as well buy single LEDs / cobs and mount them to heatsinks. Check out the DiY led forms, really good stuff there
