Because the paper towel, like proper soil, is moist and not wet, and it's dark because the seed is planted beneath the soil, where it's dark. I never let the air sit unchanged in the bag for more than 12 hours, and I prefer gallon size ziplocks for germination. Done properly, it mimics soil...

Don't know about coco. As far as watering goes, iy's a good rule of thumb. You will quickly gain experience when to water by how much the pots weigh.

Depends how you're growing. If you're pure organic with live predators involved, temps become much more important.

Yes, just don't overdo it on the water. I don't feed, unless and until the plant starts to show a deficiency. Water as needed.

This is not the time to be lacking in patience grasshopper.

How old are they?

You want some space between the seeds. Otherwise, you're going to be back on here next week wondering how to separate the sprouts without damaging the roots.
