...hard to tell Bass...I have been chopping at all of the ladies
in the Crop #7 hempys in the closet.

I hit a few of them even today. After watching them for a little
more than a week as they acclimated to their hempys.

I have fed then nutes, then compost tea, then fish emulsion,
in the interim, but in the last couple of days it became obvious
that they were going to need a chop.

The younger Bubba Kush did not need attention, but it is a
tight indica. The Skunk #1 was cool too, and the Plushberry,
but the Ace of Spades is another fast grower.

Take care,

JD

Boring morning. I get to watch NFL today, and to hope that
the right half the entire league loses so that I have a chance
at the playoffs.

Boring because we are in the beginning of the second half
of the current grow...I am deciding that this is the most boring
spot in a grow. Vertical growth has stopped. The buds are all
set. I need to start checking less often. :0) I will see things
like the spaces between the buds closing, and the buds swelling,
if I use a longer sample interval.

I am taking some shots anyway. :0)

Hello all,

This is a funny one...but I thought to leave my Notification alone until
I had so many that the web interface had to adapt. (I was curious as
to how it would...but really needed was five digits and I am not that patient ;0)

Check it out:

The funny thing is that when I went to read and clear the Likes list, it looks
like the number of records, or some such, broke something:

great to know and hell of a selection
Hey Z, thanks for stopping in.

The ladies are doing very well. I am experiencing the benefit of
a strong Veg period, with the Somango and three Cannaventure
Mothers Mix plants.

...and I am, once again, trying to Veg the next crop, with at least
four weeks to go.

This is a learning process, trying to work with new breeds, get a
feeling for what they are trying to do, and then to prepare a plant
to be ready in a specific window in time.

Only Super Lemon Haze and Martian Kush were so off the reservation
that I am not sure how/when they will be flowered. They both
shoot straight up so fast that I think that a SOG of them would rock.
....never going to commit an entire crop to this until I taste them though.

Bass, what was this about a Re-Veg ruining a breed for you? That was
the first time that I had read about that happening. How common
is this effect? I hope that your current Re-Veg efforts prove fruitful.

JD
i have successfully revegged one plant back in 09' it was magic bud i have pictures in one of my threads, but yea some plants do reveg some dont....i am trying to reveg my hso blue dream at the moment; im not sure if its going to take (if u havent heard hso blue dream IMHO is A+++ work. exactly like the clone only but the clone only has more indica bud structure) but one thing im sure of is the ways i went about revegging. magic bud i had left the buds and on this last run i picked them off and left some small fan leaves. magic bud revegged very fast it grew round leaves that looked nothing like cannabis leafs. they do grow out normal looking ones after though...
I probably said it wrong.
What I meant was that I have a high failure rate at re-vegging my plants.
I think 2 in 10 so far.
They are the same after reveg if they make it though.
2 in 10 makes me worry about my BD :(
Other than 1 or 3 finger leaves for a while and a weird structure till it takes off no differences, except maybe a lil faster to mature
right one with that!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, LOL, I am like, "No, see that small open space near the
Purple Wreck hempy?"

Really, I will have to up-pot the six seedlings, but the clones will
be growing in the seedling tray until the first plants are harvested.

The upside is that as the plants flowering are taken, a new 5 gallon
hempy bucket will be taken from the closet. This will mean space for
3 or 4 smaller plants for each bucket.

I am posting my Dog in the dog thread, to see if they think
that I can wait the expected four weeks before I flip it.

Hey GD,thanks for stopping in, and great f'ing post!

If you allow me to slightly edit what you wrote...did you mean:

i left the buds on "magic bud" and it revegged very fast.

This is very interesting. ...maybe it gives the plant the signal
to keep trying....a "sign of life", if you will.

BTW: I checked in The Dog thread and some there have reported
stretches in the neighborhood of 3 or even 4 X. !!!

I will be chopping my Vegging ladies down one more time, probably
in another week. They will have two full weeks, and more, to build
the tops that will be flipped.

I am going to end up with bushes, again, but with roots to support
them if all goes according to plan.

Hello all,

If you had to choose from one of these, then which would you pick:

Ushio Hilux Gro AHS 600/Opti-Red
Sunmaster Super HPS Deluxe Bulb 600W
Global Greenhouse Lighting 'GGL' - 600w HPS Bulb
Eye Hortilux Enhanced HPS Lamps LU600S-HTL-EN - 600W

I need to replace my HPS bulb in my flowering tent.

Thanks!

I havent used many bulb brands, and the one I recently got is too new to give an honest review.
I seem to be having a smallll bud development with that tent, other conditions may be the culprit though.

Did you lave all the buds on the reveg you did?

Glocdoc I am not the best grower lol, so dont take my results as the norm.
A few of the revegs I did were pushed in the corner and dI think died of neglect and lack of light

Bass, I have not had a successful reveg yet either,
but I also have not really made a serious effort.

I have a couple in the BST right now, but I took
lower tops to use and intentionally avoided the
more flowery tops. (but I removed nothing)

I will post pics when the things in the seedling tray
come out. LOL, but everything in the tray is hostage
until something comes out of the flowering tent.

Take care,

JD

I get that impression. This is why the wicking-mat-fed
seed tray works for me....it keeps me from over-watering.

I also think that increasing the light cycle helps, and that
with some breeds it may be mandatory. (20-4 vs 18/6)

I paid the dough for the Eye HPS bulb. The tent seems very
happy this morning, though we are definitely into the long,
slow fattening period where progress is a bit harder to see.

We are into the sixth week for the older plants, but I am sure
that we are looking at the end of week 9 at the earliest, for a
harvest.

Oh, and I did put the two new Soma beans into the seedling tray.

I am so happy with Somango that I look forward to trying more
of his work. The new breeds are Lavender and NYC Diesel.

I should add that I am struggling with the males again.

I have had to kill and chuck all the males that I have found
so far, and this includes a few whose genetics deserved to be
maintained, if possible. (i.e a very strong PurpleBerry BX2)

I have the Jacks Cleaner 2 (must pop another of those... ;0) male
just sitting in the garage. It will be chopped if I do not get
a new tent built.

I must use the man-cave though. It is the only space that
I can do whatever I want to.

I am thinking that applying a negative pressure to the new enclosure,
using a HEPA filtered fan, might allow me to collect pollen safely.

I have to act, as it does look, more and more, like both the
Psycho Killer and Smelly Cherry look to be male too, and they
both have positive qualities....the PK has excellent structure
and the SC is just that....smelly, and very early in Veg too.

Onward and upward,

the plant was grown normal (no top/lst) the main cola was the size of a football. it was my friends plant and he had cut the top cola and all the mid sized bud then gifted me the rest of the plant with about 40 wet grams left on the plant. at the time i was growing LA woman and it was in its veg so i had to throw magic bud in with it to veg, i didnt take much bud off it probably a couple of grams no more then 3 or so....it revegged then reflowered when LA woman was put into flowering. coming to think of it i remember the plant being green no yellowing on any fan leaves, and normally people cut nitrogen off and flush (most ppl) so it being green/ supplied with nitrogen could have a factor in reveg. its just my opinion from my observations.

No worries. I understand.

Phenomenology is what it is: you saw what you saw. :0)

I am certain that having a strong plant to work with had
a strong effect on the outcome.

I actually have a few regens in the seed tray, now that I think
of it. They are from the CVMMs. I will report on how they do.

BTW: I did get a new bean, for the confirmed males, into
the seedling tray too. Jacks Cleaner 2 and Smelly Chery.
I already have a second Psycho Killer running.

I am still thinking about just chopping the males today.

The fact is that I have a stable of at least 20-30 females
to select a keeper (Harem?) group from. So far only
Somango is guaranteed a spot.

I just am not having to make beans at this time.

The killer for me is that pollen is only good for six months or so.
Yes, there are reports of longer, but I lack the facilities for
longer term storage.

I am thinking that working with tissue cultures might be
a possibility, further off.

Well, Merry Christmas to all!

I am going to grind a holiday blend...SWOG, Headband, and LA Con....hmmmm..

I just took a flowering girl and put her outside with the 2 studs to go to work on her.
Ill collect beans from her at harvest (if any)
Im not bringing her back in for risk of bugs.

Ill try to remember to add extra N to the ones I want to reveg.
That remaining green foliage helping makes perfect sense to me.

Happy Xmas.jd......hope u had a good one....

im really really glad the changes we.made to your veg area all those months ago is working, its nice to see your liking the longer veg periods as well id still love to see 1 400w or 600w in your veg area though, it would speed veg growth....reducing the amount of veg time and it means males are not in the veg area any longer then they have to be....

how does the lemon Thai smell??

do u have super lemon haze on the go?? If not that then green crack if your still running it to fill that space....

flower tent looks great, really healthy plants man....

so when we.guna see green crack vs blue.dream.......

also seeing your posts in dog thread....

Hey LK, thanks for stopping by.

You saw the upcoming line up above, and there is indeed
one slot still free.

I have been watching the Psycho Killer #1 and Smelly Cherry #1
to confirm that they are males first, but am open to letting one
of several plants take that last spot.

The fems big enough for a hempy include:
================
Holy Grail Kush
Purple Wreck
Green Crack
Super Lemon Haze
Martian Kush
Shark Tooth
Trainwreck #2
================

Other regs that might show in time to make the crop include:
================
TGA Apollo X Vortex
TGA Jilly Bean
Sour Cherry #2
================

Special considerations:

The Purple Wreck is an odd one, and got all purple on me...more
than is desired, and so I rinsed its roots and put it into straight
hempy material. It is greening up nicely, but I am going to
make a tree out of this one....it has just been too finicky.

The Super Lemon Haze is out of control. It shot up like The Monolith Monsters
and I just chopped it off at the ankles. I am taking clones to see
if I can train one earlier and get something manageable.

The Martian Kush was much like the SLH and it will be considered in
the future.

As I wrote, I popped both Lavender and NYC Diesel from Soma and intend
to have both of these in the crop after next.

Photos to follow.

Take care,

JD

Keep in mind when considering the upcoming crop's start times...

In the flowering tent:

Four plants are at about Week #6

Four plants are at about Week #5

One plant is at about Week #2

Most of what I am doing at this stage, with practically zero
free space to work with, is mostly just fidget, but what I am
trying to work out is to have my next crops plants at the right
size for their flip.

1. The Dog will have to be the first into the tent. I am hearing
stories of stretches as long as 4X where I am sure that 3X is the
most that I want to see.

I chopped that plant back a while back, when I heard this, and
might be OK, but one more chop is possible. I will want it to
happen soon though, as I will want all new tops set for the tent.

Take care,

JD
