Javadog's Next Adventure

Thanks Bass.

I am thinking about how I will handle nine plants in 5 gallon
hempy buckets, all of the current breeds, and the current clones
that are always being taken.

The Clone table that I keep referring to is a simple work table,
with one lower shelf. I might just call it a shelf with two shelves,
but it is lower shelf that I am using, with two T5HOs attached to
the underside of the upper shelf.

I am thinking that I can remove the lower shelf and put the plants
on the floor. This will give me another foot and will allow me to
use the table to light the young mothers, while the plants for
the new crop are maturing in their buckets in the closet.

I will make it work.

The ladies are exploding through the stretch, but should be
finishing it soon.

This just in: I also saw a pistil on the Sour Cherry.

I am starting a tentative list of plants intended for the
next 3X3 rack in the tent.

So far it looks like the list includes:

The Dog
Sour Cherry
Cheese Surprise
Trainwreck
Skunk #1
Sour Kosher

I have a clone I was given called "Shark Tooth" that was
a B Shelf clone. I might flower it, but I have such good
genetics, I am thinking that it will sit in the corner with
Blue OG. :0)

I also just chopped Martian Kush at the knees. It was growing
like a cancer, straight up. I am thinking that other than a
SOG grow, that the pheno I got might be hard to work with.

Otherwise, it is just a question of who wants to show tits.

The Psycho Killer and Smelly Cherry are both beautiful, but
are not showing anything yet.

There are a few plants from the younger generation that are
doing well enough that they might jump up and into the next
crop. These include both Green Crack and Bubba Kush.

Take care,

JD

Sounds promising over there, and I decided no clones this run to save space and energy.

I am regretting that decision now as these new clones seem to be some keepers, and I think the BBM might be nice as well (Blue Bubba Master)she has a smell of new car and a background of blueberry pie filling or something

Go for a Re-Veg Bass.

I had to take one of the Girl Scout Cookies after
I lost that straight-to-soil clone of that breed.

But I put this one into the Burpee Seed Tray. I am
sure that this one will take, if it takes weeks. It is
under T5HOs on 18/6.

It looks like I will need to take one of Chemdog as well.
The Kapow! was fine for all my plants, though you
can see where it seared a few leaves. I knocked a few
clones with it though and they all croaked. No breeds
altogether lost.

I am going to drop the clone table shelf, start transplanting
plants to hempys, and will just see how bad it gets.

Well, this evening I checked the tent, and the light had not turned on...

So, my MH bulb is in the tent right now.

It does make for some nice photos.

I had a working bulb, and as soon as I installed it it burned next day.
So I ran MH for a month till I could get a new bulb.

I bought a Virtual Sun 600 from eBay for $30 and its is working fine on my Lumatek dial-a-watt for 10 days now.

I will look into that brand when I research a new HPS bulb.

I have checked and can drop the "floor" of the clone table
about a foot. I am working on that now. LOL, I will want to
raise the BST which is on the table, after I lower the shelf.

I fed all the ladies in the tent a compost tea this morning
and then water until I saw overflow.

I am making the first two hempys tonight. Cheese Surprise
showed sex first and wins a slot. The Dog will get the other.

I do expect to be seeing ball or hairs on all the remaining
nth generation plants, including the Psycho Killer and the
Smelly Cherry, and right soon at that.

Take care,

JD

Good news about the shelf.

My boys outside are having trouble waiting in the cold to mature enough to release pollen.

The bulb I bought with budget in mind, and it is rated for Digi and Mag ballast use.
I think its a great bulb actually, but If you have a fav brand maybe dont switch unless you are tired of the price you are paying for it.
Im not a plant so I cant say either way what they like, but the spectrum (to my eye) looks like the Eye Super HPS in my other tent honestly.

EDIT

I dont think DIGI ballasts are that hard on bulbs anyway.
I run my 400 Venture MH bulb in my Lumatek for months at a time 18/6 and the bulb is still fine and this is an old bulb (2-3)yrs used inbtermittently.
This bulb (Venture MH 400W) is NOT rated for a digital ballast

That is very interesting (mixing bulbs and ballast types...)

I am going to get a bulb that is well rated, but not expensive.

As to the boys, I appreciate the thought. As you know, I will
have balls in the closet eventually, and think that I will move one
into my garage. The less than 12 hours of daylight that I am getting
where I live should help stimulate the production of balls.

I have heard people put branches into glasses of water....will this
stimulate pollen to release faster?

I was worried that the MH would burn out with Digital ballast, but no buzz and has about 5-6 months of vegging duty in this ballast, and the bulbs are cheap win win.

The 600 watt Virtual sun seems to be a great bulb.
I run it with no glass and passive fan across canopy that cools bulb as well.
Not much heat IMO, and still have to add heat in 4x8 area in garage to keep warm during lights on.
Plants are crammed together in 3x3 area of that space right now with hood 3" from tallest girl and no heat issues.
In fact it is only 74* 4" from hood most of the time and 65-70* at the pots.

I am so glad I didnt buy an expensive bulb and bought some beans with the money I saved!

LOL, I might just let the Shark Tooth slip bro....I am just not getting a strong impression.

Can you comment on the breed? Is it worth the time?

I have one very ready to go, if it is worth the time. It was a clone that was second shelf stuff, I was told. (why I was given it was odd...I asked for top shelf only)

JD

P.S. The second hempy (The Dog) is done. I am going to give these ladies about 4-5 weeks to root into these hempys before they are flowered. I am perpetual in the tent now, and could move these into the tent either when the first of the next wave is done (Somango and the 3 CVMMs) or I might just pull the Lemon Juice Express, as this auto is producing as LK predicted....small pickings.

I vegged my hempys for that long and when they flowered most of them were unruly compared to their soil counterparts.
They got HUGE!

Yeah, that is the concern.

This crop has four plants that got a couple of months
in their hempys. I had to wind two of them around their
buckets, to control their growth, the Somango and one
of the CVMMs.

I am primarily concerned about the height from the soil when I flip.

I will be chopping these down as necessary. I learned the
hard way that a bad stretch can affect yield.

Looking n the garage I found that I have both DOG phenos represented.
Ill see now if the clones turn out dif from the moms they came from.
I already see that Ill have bigger sized buds with less quantity of them this round.
I think the season outdoor with the 2x reveg b4 flowering was the issue I had.
I had 8 oz of popcorn...crazy!!
I still have to do something with it...hash!!

I was in the very same place this last grow.

I was able to flower the tops of every plant quite well,
and just got blasted on a bowl of Headband....very good.
BUT these tops were five feet off the ground! :0)

I did notice that the mainlined plant did a better job of
filling in the lower buds. This was the Kosher Kush, MLed
to eight tops, and where I write "lower" I mean *way* down.

I am sure that this was a side effect of the fact that there
was less larfy light blockage with this MLed plant.

LOL, I am doing this even worse with my very mature CVMM
plants, as they are "shrubs", but at least I can hit their
entire surface, and not just the top surface!

Have a great day everyone.

Go Chargers!

What happened to mine was i topped for 16 on the Dogs, but every top had like 20 sucker shoots that all budded all the way dowmn.
I didnt maintain it.
Lots of weight, but hella small buds not worth trimming.
This time I did indoor, and 4 tops :). the buds look way better even this early into flower.
But so many differences in grow...inside...less tops...no multiple revegs...clones not from seed...etc...
I may end up revegging these after the grow too seeing how much better they look.
I wouldnt have kept them at all except the smoke is awesome, and seeing everyone's from clone come out so good.

Hell I might reveg several strains.

When my girls get to tall I use T-12s and or T-5s hung sideways for side fill and have had good results.
I put them like 2-3" T-12 and 4-6" away T-5s
