Led for veg questions

Hey riu,

just a few questions about using a 300w (185w true output if i remember correct) led for veg.

It's just so I can have a separate flowering cabinet for sooner turn overs, I've had the led for a while that's the only reason why I want to use it. Il either be using 1x 600w hps or 2x 600w hps for flowering cabinet. I spoke to a guy from a hydro shop yesterday he said led are good for veg but don't match hps for flowering and that the led make a thicker stronger main stem and what not.
but what I want to know is will that led be enough to veg say 3 plants before putting them under 1x 600w hps or will the difference in heat and light output be to much for them?
thanks in advance, criticism welcome haha.

It depends on how many lumens it puts out. Wattage is a measurement of energy not light.

Also your hydro guy is full of shit. He's just trying to sell you a hps set up. LED is making hps and MH a thing of the past. Especially the Leds you can change the wave length to custom on ;)

Thanks for the reply I just checked the info of the light from when I bought it and it says

Lumens: ≥6500 Lm

in one word: Bullshit!

LEDs are great for both veg and bloom.
im using 2 x 200W, 11-Band LED panels from AdvancedLedLights, for the full cycle, and couldnt be happier, producing big fat dense buds.
im not suggesting this is the only LED panel that works, im sure there are better ones out there, but i strongly suggest moving for HID to LED.

no heat, low electricity, and much more elegant :)

He wasn't against the LEDs he said I would just use hps for the whole grow instead of changing lights out for flowering, but in my case it wouldn't matter because the would be seperate cabinets.

Hey master thanks but its just price comparison for the lights that gets me!! I found Chinese led panels for decent prices but who knows how good they work!! And what about final yield differences in hps to led??

hey vorteqz,
my panels were ordered from china. from the same factory that manufactures the panels for AdvancedLedLights.
there are %100 identical, same specs (even though they can be customized) for less than half the price.
during veg, i keep a 24/0 light cycle for more than 2 months, with no problems whatsoever.
check out my journals to see them in action. if you want a contact in the china factory, let me know.
(im using the Diamond Series ones)

These clones were started under leds, and will remain under them for the foreseeable future.

I use 2 ufo 90s- one 3500K, one 5000K

These were test panels that are not going to market- not because they don't work, but over behind the scenes shit. If you look at my last grow I have used a combination of A19 globes and commercial led tubes ~ 115w total. It seems the extra ~80w is critical. Also, it seems that the 3500 v 3000 provides better spectrum

Clearly, Red/Blue need not apply

so they deffinantly do the job! With proof!!! What about bigger LEDs? For a high yield grow?

Master would the supplier be called E. shines by any chance??

I use LED for veg and flower, my leds spectrums are more geared towards flowering but they perfrom very well in veg. read my signature thread if u want to see some results. it would be very hard to convince me that a 600w HPS would be giving me any better results, I still have a month left of flowering and my buds are already getting pretty epic

what is the 3500 and 3000 referring to??

Is your light a custom or bought already more focused to flower? I want to do a side by side 600w hps vs 600w led just to see how close it is because I'm going for yield only if there's a big difference between the 2 the looser will be replaced with the winner ;)

was listed as 3w flowering 6 band veg and flower, I bought them on ebay. if your doing a comparison make sure you use all clones, due to there being many possible phenotypes when growing from seed any results would be meaningless

Go for it :)

Last tip:
You can ask them to write "aquarium LED lights" as the package contents so it doesn't look strange when going through customs.
Worked for me....

Thanks for all the info guys :)
just paid for my ds600 should be here in a few weeks!!
Can't wait to start this!! Was actually thinking after the first grow to do a sog how many plants under the ds600? And what space?
il be growing LSD and big bud, I'm going for max yield and any info would help. and one other thing with the veg and flower control on the diamond series lights should I actually use them separately or just both on??
