would it be possible to make anhydrous ethanol the same way you make anhydrous ipa and use that to extract your trim and popcorn nugs? also would there be any benefit over say 99% ipa?

You thinking the 5% water is screwing the bit or you hoping 5% more ethanol will change the game?
What drying agent are you using and are we talking dirty decant anhydrized or a proper distill off the drying agent?
it didn't seem worth the effort when i tried it because that ethanol is going to pick that water back up from the atmos from handling so you etoh will always be taking steps back to 95%.

I'm not poo poo'ing that 5% im just saying if i had 100 bux to put towards that or a freezer for my blast tubes im getting the freezer at it will make more than 5% difference.

Good point about the hygroscopic properties of 200 proof. We use 190 proof and freeze everything before the extraction.

If you totally desiccate the material ahead of time to eliminate water, and use 200 proof in an enclosed system, you will extract even more chlorophyll un-frozen and the monoterpenes will all be gone.

I like to take a 20-gallon ice chest, dissolve 10-pounds of sugar in 5-gallons of water, pour it into the ice chest, add 10 gallons of water, add 3 TSP of yeast, close the lid, wait 3-5 days..

Add a half-gallon of sour mesh to the water distiller, pour off the first 1-2 ounces from every distilling (methyl and iso alcohol), catch the rest, label on a glass jar, "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION", and use that. :)

I usually get my proof to about 170, or 85% ethyl alcohol, 15% water. It burns like blue dragon flames.. 10-pounds of sugar makes about 1 gallon of pure panther-piss for about $3.. If you want to get badass, you can teabag some Juniper berries and anise seeds in it. ;)

if you roast your epson salt to the specified temps you can find on the net, you will get anhydrized magnesium sulphate which is a decent drying agent indeed. I use it decant style to refresh my cold traps of accumulated water. I don't trust the chloride drying agents, you can always use bentonite while distilling but it's harder to clean out the flask at the end with water than epson salt. The great thing about spent drying agent is you can spice up your wife's bath with it if your not in the mood to re anhydrize it.
