Nice! Thanks for popping in.

I am pretty sure that my yield will suffer with as many as three
of this Crop breeds because the are running out of room, but the
Kosher, PurpleBerry (go figure!), Headband, and LA Confidential
are going to kick ass all by themselves.

The Kosher is saved for more grows, both in cloned mother and
an extra seed I bought.

Take care,

JD

hey bigworm! You got any pics of the kosher kush? I would love to see what I am in for :)
I am checking his .sig grow....damn, lol, but more TGA goodness that I wanted
but did not jump on. The Mickey Kush required a whole pack and I wanted to
dabble...

Good stuff.

Yea I have done many ogs and never been impressed with them. huge stretch low yield is pretty much the moral of their story. Fire OG was the best one I did, but even that one was pretty dissappointing.

Yea you got some winners thats for sure, lets hope the phenotype fairy smiles down on you! AOS is pretty dank, the pink lady pheno sounds amazing. Qrazy train is pretty common around my area, a lot of the local clubs have the same cut of it. I been tempted to get it, but I would rather do my own pheno hunt. One of these days, one of these days lol

Man, but I do love their stink so...I am thinking to LST one for a cycle
in the Veg tent, like I am doing with the Cannaventure Mothers Mix plants
and the one Somango.

1. My Headband is a beast. I love strong genes. If the flowers
are powerful, then this might be worth fighting to keep around.....<<strong amounts of kush in lineage

2. Both OG Kush and OG #18 are actually a disappointment so far,
as they have stretched to death. This is my fault, for reasons yet
to be fully sussed out. I am trying to Re-Veg clones of these. This
is the first flowering clones that I have taken so I am interested in
how this turns out independent of whether I get success or not.

3. LA Confidential is just amazing, structure wise. The buds are
*starting* fat in some odd way....kinda like rose buds. It is also
a strong grower; good genes. I have good clones of this one too.

4. The Kosher Kush also stretched, a lot, but it started out as a
mainlined plant about 8" high!

Do you not see the pattern, your problems have come from may i say, a slight lack of "reading up on the strain".....as you look about the net the general impression is that all og kush seems to be a very tall, vine like plant with small golf ball sized nugs, that always needs stakeing, and most people trim (lollipop) the bottom 2/3 so all they are left with is the tops as its to far from the light for good light pen on smaller buds.

however the buds are of such quality some people sacrifice yeild for strength....

Note on #2: I actually used my CMH bulb for the first week. I am
wondering if using it for the first two or three weeks might help control
stretch further.

i personally think mh is not as good as using a dual spec hps after watching something a commercial grower was talking about, the hps has more power and energy from the lumens to give to the plants, and most dual spec hps contain the same amount of blue light as a MH bulb.....sounds like im crazy but i will find the clip!

i certainly wouldnt use it for the first 2 weeks of flower, to try and reduce stretch...thats a critical time as the plant starts its budding..it sets its final height and how many bud sites it will have.....it knows it needs hps....a mishap here could dramatically effect harvest in my opinion,

LOL, I fix a problem every time....and having to wait a flowering cycle to
get better leaves a fucking mark
, I'll tell you! It helps me remember!

it cuts deep man i feel this way every strain it norm takes 3 runs of the same strain to nail it....that nearly a years worth of growing....

if the og's are really getting to high you WILL end up haveing to supercrop them, imo its best t do it now rather then later.....you will not hurt the plants, its all good even at week 6,7 and 8.....

also i see you and pap are not a fan of lollipopping, this would help increase your yeild (essential in sog) as you can see from this pick, the lower shoots are very weak and really should be trimmed off, in budding terms this plant starts half way up the stem already and this will not help to solve your height issues.....i propose that you top them early on in life (all strains) so they grow into bushes rather then straight up like that.....this means you wont have so much wasted height. and a better canopy....

also.....because of the bottom shoots you see here, i really really really think you should either add to or replace the t8's in your veg room with either a 400w hps or mh (if you prefer) i think you are using the t8s because they fit the length you require nicely and yes they do root cuttings and veg plants to an extent...but cfls are to be used very close to the tops of the plants it is this that makes nodes extremly tight.

with the 400w you will see better light pen, faster growth that is stronger and the bigger plants will yeild more, in the same time.

again i really reccomend you try this, i really think it would help

what do you think?

**i am only trying to help not insult dont take it that way!!**

right to help explaine above post you have this,,,,,,,

and i think its partly your veg situation that is causing it sooo if we look at this...
05 Headband.jpg

and through good light intensity and topping you should end up with this obv this ones not topped but you get the idea...the lowers are lacking because all the plants energy is in the top leafs from not enough light intensity down low ..(which is were i think youd like them)

05 Headband (1).jpg

what do you think???

p.s veg is were all the work is, a great veg = a stunning harvest

I know this is JDs thread, but I will answer on my part of your questions/observations. I do lollipop to some extent, however I don't take it nearly as far as many people do. I don't like cutting fan leaves off. Although I suppose I really should trim up my plants. I pretty much always top at least one time if there's gonna be any length of veg time. With my SOG I didn't top, but due to the way they were cloned, some did end up forming 2 tops.

I wish I could run a 400 MH but due to heat and power I can't right now. As it is I occasionally blow the circuit if my big screen and computer are on while my lights/ac are on I figured my t5s were about as good as I can get it right now. The growth rate is astronomically different though, espcailly when its larger plants. This is my first setup in a long time where I haven't used MH and it has been pretty shitty seeing the differences. It gets SOOOO annoying to have to constantly raise and lower the t5 setup anytime I want to so much as inspect the plants. But, my circuit cant handle another HID light and all the necessary ventilation that goes with it

Talk it out, please!

I am absorbing the responses, and appreciate the time.

LK, know that your suggestion as to where to bury the Headband
is precisely what I did. (I did not just strip the lower sites...I stripped
them and then I buried them in hempy material ;0)

I lollipopped the SOG of mt Crop #2 pretty aggressively. I leave fan
leaves...that is where I stand on that religious topic :0) ....but I take
branches that I expect to be insufficiently productive.

I am doing this on this grow, intend to stake tops individually, and have
already started to super-crop the out-of-control tops.

Where I am ready to admit that I fell short was in predicting how tall they
would end up after the stretch.

This is just a lack of experience. I am working on this. :0)

Hello,

I needed to check the tie-down on the two plants that I am LSTing
in the Veg area.

One is my Somango, the other is one of the Cannaventure Mothers Mix.

The Somango is a slight plant, as it starts Vegging, but it is getting stronger
and is most of the way around the bucket at this point:
Somango-Tied-Down.jpg

The CVMM is a hot mess, but it is only healthier:
CannaventureMothersMix-Tied-Down.jpg

Here's a shot of a rack of seedlings today:
Babies10-9-13.jpg

BTW: These, and all seedlings at this stage, were topped this morning. I shoot for an FIM
but will be happy with any number of branches to work with.

Take care all,

JD

P.S. Papa, the Cannaventure Mothers Mix is a special pack of seeds (a freebie from Attitude)
where the CV people take their best mothers and whack them with good males. The seeds
that result are somewhat random, but the potential of a good pheno is excellent.

This is what I have on them:
-----------------------------------------------
CV Mothers Mix:

Mothers:
Lemon Skunk, Hogsbreath, Pre 98 Bubba and ECSD.

Fathers:
Sour Diesel IBL keeper
Sour Double Kush
Pre 98 bubba Kush BX

The quote from Cannaventure, on ICMag:
The Mothers Mix pack Freebies consist of pre 98 Bubba Kush....The Hogsbreath
Clone....ECSD clone.. and The Lemon Skunk Clone...All being the Mom plants....
As for the dads that where used, I used my nice Sour Diesel IBL keeper Dad...
I used a nice Sour Double Kush Dad....And a Pre 98 bubba Kush BX dad... So
expect multiple phenos for sure... But should be some very nice winners to be
found...
