Hows that power bill vs hps?
I haven't used HPS but im sure its less. If I was running a 600w HPS that's at least 600w powr draw and I think the balasts draw more power, not sure on this? plus I would need significantly more ventilation so that would add to power costs as well. 600w of LED only has a power draw of about 400w so I am definatly saving money compared to using an equal wattage HPS

quick update today, watered last night with ph 6.0 water, still trying to bring my ph down though I suspect my cheapass ebay soil ph meter dosent work properly as it always reads 8 no matter what soil I stick it in :cuss:
Plant tops are standing back up and looking super healthy
Applied a new layer of diatomaceous earth as the old stuff washed away in the watering, it seems to get all over my leaves. Im hoping this is the last application of it I need to make as I do not want to be using it during flower, getting this stuff into buds would be very hard to get out and would not be fun to smoke, getting it just on the leaves is fine as it will fall off or wash away eventually.
quick pic!

Awesome, cheers dude. Planning on getting back into growing after 10 years - absolutely amazed at how things have moved on in the meantime.

Nice bushes man and thank you I like the cost better now that it was converted from Canadian. I'm going to spend 400$ on new lights so this seems like the best options I might buy 4 4ft ho t5 single lamps to supplement my light with it and save a little extra to get 2 300 watt leds seems like my electric bill will thank me! Were your auto plants grown under your led lamps as well?

yeah the autos were grown with 360w of led and 2 39w t5 HO as side lighting, I also had to plants in with them vegging until the last 2 weeks of the autos flowering cycle then I gradually switched to 12/12.

Moy bueno I just bought two 300 watt leds I'm going to try to grow my ak49 and thunder bloody Mary auto (this one I highly recommend) with it. Btw if you ever get the chance try auto New York I got 87 grams just from a t5 4bulb half budding half normal high output. They're pretty cheap seeds too with a good thc level of 18%. I'm going to do my photo period ones with the leds though just cause ill probably get better results. Kudos my friend kudos and keep up the great work!!!

The plants recovered very fast from round 2 of super cropping so today its round 3!
The plants are all between 6-8 inches tall and all have a minimum of 8 tops at the top of the canopy, they all have many lateral branches and to many growing shoots to count

Today I focused on super cropping closer to the end of the branches where the new growth comes out, as well as cropping branches in the under canopy that I missed or were to thin on previous passes. I cropped every top I could find, some were a little to thin and snapped to far through and will likely just fall off but at this point ive really got tops to spare so im not bothered. After the cropping I sprayed all the plants with my foliar feeding mix which is ph'd tap water, a wetting agent and a low dose of sensi grow nutrients. Im going to be spraying with this every day or 2 to get the dust off of the leaves as well as boost growth. Ive been using the foliar spray throughout the whole grow but never thought to mention it until now.

Before and After pics: the white dust on soil and leaves is diatomaceous earth. The plants have now been cropped at the beginning middle and end of each branch

This will likely be the last training they receive as im going to start my transition to 12/12 on Oct 1st

just a word of warning to anyone trying this technique, be careful. make sure the growth you are trying to crop is thick enough that it has a sort of rubbery feel but not so thick that its become completely woody feelining. If you try this on a place that is to thin it will snap very easily, I lost 3 growing tips on round 3 because I was over zealous and snapped a couple branches that were to thin for it to be done. Luckily I have a bout a zillion growing tips at this point so its not that big a deal. If you snap a branch to far you can usually fix it with a little tape but it dosent always work.

I replaced a 250 watt hps with a 300 watt led. The led actually pulls closer to 200 watts.
I get a bunch more light, about the same amount of heat (maybe less with the LED if you include the hot magnetic ballast) and less electricity.

Electricity is so cheap where I live that it is not a concern. (about $0.04 kwh in the winter and about twice that in the summer)

This is a good thread. Have been reading for a while as I am about to dive in. I have a closet that is 6'x42" that I am going to use. I was determined to use LED from the start but all the oldtimers with their NO WAY only hi energy stuffs had me doubting my plan, even though researching says leds cover the spectrums needed. I have a couple of questions though. First when you supercrop, are you actually cutting off the tops or just "breaking" them and leaving them in place? Could you explain this in more detail. And for additional lighting, I think i read you will use t5's. I see that low wattage (24w for instance) led grow lights can be bought. What is your opinion about using those in place of cfl? Go led all the way.
