Deleted Vs. Closed Threads

What is the criteria for closing a thread vs. deleting it? I'm really getting tired of taking my time to type out thoughtful responses in threads here lately, and look forward to others' responses to threads that interest me, only to log on to find that a thread has disappeared (along with one's thoughts, likes, rep, etc.). When a thread gets rowdy or worthless, I've seen Heis and Pad close them, but why delete them? If some posts are SO outrageous as to harm other members' minds, I can see deleting those posts and closing the thread, but why throw out the baby with the bathwater? I know it's a private site and the owner can do whatever they please, I'm just giving my two cents in hopes to see changes before I move onto to other sites. Am I the only one who feels this way?

The recently homosexual defective gene thread, and right before that Pad's sexual assault thread was also deleted. You had great posts in the defective gene thread, I'm surprised you didn't notice :)

Holy shit, I didn't! I spent a lot of time posting in there to that idiot G.I.A.... a lot of links to studies, a lot of time editing, and grammar checking. If that's how it's going to be, why should I waste my time....

Thanks, RIU... :(

it just depends
close usually means after clean up we reopen it
delete means too many posts to clean it up or inappropriate content ,spam ect, or just a huge spiral downwards
the sexual assault thread was deleted and is to not be reopened or undeleted.
the homo thread i will clean up and reopen , i apologize for the delay but im a bit busy in real life at the moment you can currently read everything in the homo thread, and it was only closed due to some trolling on the last few pages no posts get deleted if the thread is closed unless they are completely out of hand in which we clean it up than reopen but posts by beefisquit are all still there

I do normally try to preserve the posts of people who actually try. You guys can help us out by not quoting posts that will obviously be deleted. If a post is nothing but name calling and vitriol then just report it and ignore it or send me a private msg. (I personally do not receive the auto-msgs from the report button)

Well, damn, Heis! That's like half the posts in this section ;) Cool, we'll do our part, thanks for the reconsideration and advice...
