200 / 30 =6.66 a day
For that kind of money you are supporting our farmers.
Since the only thing you can afford is rice and shit with high fructose corn syrup in it
In Mexico it is 2400 pesos. In Colombia it is 380.000 pesos. Roughly for both of course because of fluctuations in currency.
When I was growing in Mexico, my wife budgeted 2500 pesos for her, our daughter, and myself to eat each month. This fed us very well. We did not own a microwave or a can opener. All of our meats were cut fresh and cooked the day we bought them and our vegetables were completely organic and from local farmers. Transportation prices and handling drive up food costs entirely too much in the US. Most vegetables are GM. Most meats are fed and plumped with chemicals.
This is an example of what we paid at 12 pesos a kilo. ($1.00 per 2.2 pounds)
Tomatoes 12 pesos
Avocado 20 pesos
Fish 40-60 pesos Red Snapper at 60
Shrimp 80-150 pesos depending on size
Chicken 19-25 pesos for whole chicken
Beef 50-180 pesos depending on cut
potatoes 9 pesos
limes 7-12 pesos
papaya free when in season 50 pesos out of season
mango free when in season 65 pesos out of season
pineapple 15-25 pesos each depending on type
onion 7-12 pesos
garlic 75 pesos
watermelon 6 pesos
cilantro 3-5 pesos
jalapenos 5-7 pesos
This is all I could think of in this time. There are many other things people eat. It comes down to shipping costs. Buying from local farmers and fishermen kept the costs down and almost organic other than what came from the ocean. The US is well behind the curve because they pay farmers not to grow food to keep costs higher. This is the reality of the US agricultural system.
