Sativa VS Indica: Feeding 101

I completely agree on both points you made: #1 Most plants are now hybrid #2 Feeding aint really a sativa vs indica thing but more of a strain specific thing.

The reason why we started this thread was to try to get as specific infos as possible for each individual strains with supersoil dosage.

Again every pheno from a strain will differ, every super soil will be a bit different etc but it'll give us a good base to start working with the specific pheno we keep

I did a Bubble Gum in 50% super soil and another one with traditional FF nutes. The FF plant was taller in the end, but they yielded within 2 grams of eachother! As you can see in the pic, the SS plant on the left is sitting on a box and is still shorter than the FF. 50% I would say is a good rule for this strain, but I wouldn't hesitate to try more. Had some problems with powdery mildew which I know stunted both..BUT the SS plant resisted much better actually.

Also did a blue cheese in 50% super soil, which created a small plant again, but yielded the same as the other larger ones.

Thanks to you Mister Sister. 50% as a base for both blue cheese and Bubble Gum that's noted.

Based on what you told me would you say that SS didnt really improved yield or growth pattern but it did improved the plant overall health (cf less powdery mildew - shorter internodes)?

Let's hope other's keep on joining, i trully believe this thread can end up being one of the most usefull tools for new super soil users.

One more to add.

I came across a few different members reporting that Pandora's Box is a heavy feeder (all of it's corresponding phenotypes). People seem to be using between 60-70% and still have to top dress at least once! Subcool made an announcement a couple weeks ago saying he will be dropping Pandora's Box (along with The Flav) so be sure to snatch these up before they are gone forever!

CheeseQuake it depends if the pheno is nute sensitive you need to give it less than half (1/3 or less) otherwise you can cause it to throw nanners. Pretty sure Sub has said the nute sensitive phenos will throw them if given too much.

If the apollo is a heavy feeder in veg it'll take as much SS as you can give it (and may even need some topdressing once or twice in flower).

Found a few more, as per the Weed Nerd Episode 32 (15:00)

Strains related to Urkle (Cheese Quake, Deep Purple, Querkle (Urkle pheno), Bubba Kush (Ripped Bubba, Qush), and Cheese (Cheese Quake, Dairy Queen) use less food, about 1/3 of SS.

Strains like the Apollo's (Apollo 13-BX, Vortex, The Third Dimension, The Void) take about 1/2 SS

Jack's Cleaner, Kaboom, and Jack the Ripper take about 2/3 SS.

Black Cherry Soda and Exodus Cheese uses almost no SS. He will top-dress with SS, but little to none in bottom of container. It does appear that each strains pheno dictates how much SS to use. So if you have a Ace of Spades or Plushberry Black Cherry Soda pheno, it will take less SS? Please, correct me if I'm mistaken, but that's how I understand it.

I have noticed some inconsistencies. On Weed Nerd Episode 12 (see post #26) on this thread, Sub states the Cheese hybrids require 1/2 SS, on Episode 32, he says 1/3. I guess the only way is to grow them out and then make a determination... Hope this helps!

Hey bud, just a thought, how's people's mixes gonna come into play, I know that subs recipe is very hot, others that have used subs recipe to expand it have cooled the mix down, so if u use 50% of one mix its not gonna compare to 50% of someone else's.
Its still a good estimate for people though, maybe if u kept the results from the bagged TGA SS separate as that will be more reliable as its probably pretty consistent.

Anyways, how's ya grow goin SHvisitor, ya need two get a cam for some pix for us... Also what's ur name mean - SHvisitor?

Also think that if sub says 1/2 one ep and 1/3 another, he could have been growing one to be used to make seeds and need to last a few weeks longer and have more food and the other to flower, but liked duster74 says I reckon its trial and error and as most people's mixes are different.

and for fellow nerds, go and listen too Daft Punks new album Random access memories ,you can get the whole album on YT, I've literally had the album on repeat in my headphones for the past week continuously, the whole album is amazing, especially when ur smoking some 18 week haze ;p

I completely agree with what you say with peoples mixes differing from others and will affect how much SS gets put into the flowering pot and could be misleading to growers like us. However, the amounts of SS we have compiled on this thread, with the exception of a couple, have come directly from the horse's mouth- Subcool. So as long as peoples follow Subcool's SS recipe, veg their plants for approx 60 days, use #10 pots, 1000kW HPS, and all other conditions are the same as Sub, then the SS amounts should not vary from grower to grower. I do like the idea that you have that it should be based off of the TGA SS, as this would be more consistent. That could take a while as it's still a new product. Thanks for the input bro!

My indica strains always feed more and can handle much higher ppm levels then any type sativa or hybrid I might grow. More then likely just my indica strains but has always been like that for me. i find my sativas drink alot more though.

Hey Bro,

The grow's doing good, Holygrail(2), LA confidential(4), Headband(3) and Kaboom(7) are all coming along nicely.

Chucky's bride and Chocolate rain all poped (12/12 beans) there finishing on week two, waiting for a couple more weeks and i'll be starting my selection.

About my "name" well i use to hang out in the strain hunter forum. I never thought i'd end up hanging around in here , i started reading the mainlinning thread and when nobody gave a shit about that revolutionary technique over there i realised many people werent really about learning but more about bud porn wich is cool but not really what i'm looking for.

About your advices your entirely right, at the end of the day those datas are more of a guideline but we'll all have to adjust to our own condition and phenos but it helps having estimation - except on that Cheese situation haha.

For the camera, i might try to do some pics with my web cam. The resolution isnt to bad. Dont take it bad but i'm not investing on a camera just so i can upload pics in here. I'm not much of a photo person. But i f i can put my hands on a cam i'll be sure to be posting over here. Nothing really impressive though with Nugbuckets and all the animals growing over here hehe

No 21st century phone over here, i aint spending that much money on a phone haha

I was "rolling" with a 3x3 (1m2) tent, divided in two parts. Top was the blooming and bottom the veg. The numbers in between brackets were weeks btw not the number of plants i have haha.
I'm planning on bringing back the 5x5 tent to do my bloom and switch the 3x3 into a veg only tent once the chucky's bride and chocolate rain will be big enough.

I'm running 4 plants in the 3x3 and will get to 6/8 bigger plants or 4 plants plus 6/12 smaller plants - when pheno-hunting - in the 5x5.

Working on that camera
