Hey Pet,have you tried the new Veg+Bloom formula called "Dirty", I just ordered a sample. Not sure if you grow anything in dirt.

He's keeping me in the dark lol

I haven't asked, and they haven't offered

Considering how well their new lights are performing n real life, I trust them

I will know soon enough

That's pretty exciting, like Christmas morning. I'm sure you will have a thread announcement when you get rolling, so we can follow along.

Catch ya later.

Getting it in exchange for doing a thread on IC (where I also do blogs), there are plenty of excellent A51 threads here already

Hey PF, how many watts of led strip do you think it would take to indefinitely keep a motherplant alive?

About 40w or 1 x 5m strip (300 x 5050 diodes) of cool white (5500-6500k) cut up to the style of your mother/choosing... :)

Clone Update

The moon has been full for 2 nights, this morning's flush reduced ~ 140ppm, which is PHS (Pink Himalayan Salt). Will harvest in 2-3 more days.

Timing is perfect, as the new seedlings are ready for more light

It does appear that Clone #1 main cola (she has been getting the ufo 90) has a bigger diameter than Clone 2.

Clones are far from identical: clone 2 has a vg main cola, and way more side branches, although clone #1 has good side branching, too

As I am ready to harvest, I did a bit more digging into the best time. Below is some more astrological/astronomical 411 to ponder

Since today is an Air sign (Aquarius) and another doesn't pop up until the 27th, and, my seedlings are needing to get a lot more light and food, looks like today's harvest day. Will wait until ~ 5pm

Nothing is really carved in stone, as everyone swears by something different- but I also garden by the stars. Here's a few of my own notes & observations, if they help- great...if not, well, you ain't out much...

Phase of moon- I consider it to be 2 days BEFORE and 2 days AFTER the actual calendar date...check an almanac for reference...

Moon Sign- there's two kinds, the astrological and astronomical (or actual) place in the Zodiac, where the Moon resides during its journey across the night sky. Some folks use the astrological moonsign, I personally like the astronomical one instead.

Planting while the Moon is in a Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) or Earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) will produce plants that will grow rapidly and will generally thrive beyond expectation, and also may have a higher ratio of females. Planting in a Fire sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) tends to produce low germ rates, with a high proportion of hermies and males- also the plants will be susceptible to mites, mold, diseases and pests. The Air sign plants will tend to be stretchy and may yield less than expected, but should otherwise thrive.

New Moon- the moon is reborn from darkness into light...much like a seed emerging from the soil. This is a powerful time for planting, as seeds grow and sprout quickly and will tolerate a considerable amount of abuse. It's also a perfect time for cloning- even better if the Moon is in a Water or Earth sign.

*Black Moon- technically the 2nd new moon in a calendar month, it is exceedingly rare...also even more powerful than a standard new moon for cultivation purposes. There is a Black Moon in May, on the 30th...during which time it'll be in the sign of Taurus- a GREAT time for starting seeds!

Full Moon- the Full Moon has very powerful and dramatic effects on Earth and her occupants...also an excellent time for cultivation and harvesting! Seeds started under a Full Moon may not germ and grow as rapidly as under a New Moon, but they will be spectacular plants...full of vigor and potency.

There's much more, but I'm too stoned to go into further detail ATM... All I can say is this: I've gardened faithfully by the stars and have had very outstanding results.

Marijuana, medicinal herbs and the moon The healing power of plants

The best astrological sign for planting herbs, aromatic and beautiful flowers is the air sign of Libra. This sign can be used to encourage growth for the plants that are harvested for their blooms. Virgo rules and benefits the growth of all medicinal plants. Plant seeds in the first or second quarter, when the moon is growing. The moon changes sign every 2-3 days and some signs are fertile, and some are barren and dry. Choose a Libra moon, or the other fertile water signs of Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. If the roots are the desired parts they should be planted in the 3rd quarter, when the root growth is encouraged.

Harvest in the air signs when the moon is waning

Harvesting at the correct time will help retain the most nutrition, essential oil vitality, aroma and healing qualities of the plant. Cut flowering herbs when they just begin to open, waiting till late morning after the dew has dried. The best time to harvest is just after the full moon, when the sap is high, but the energy has just turned downward. At this time the fluids are drawing down into the roots, taking the moisture from the plants, and making them easier to dry. You can harvest in the 3rd or 4th quarter, as the moon is waning, in an air or fire sign (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Aquarius) Harvest seeds when they turn brown, in an air sign. Hang bunches of herbs in a warm dark room with ventilation or in brown paper bags with holes punched in them. Process and dry quickly to retain vital oils, and store in a dark jar with an air tight lid, in a cool place.

I will have some trimmed weight pics in a while, but they will have the main stalk intact until dried.

That will give us some idea what dry weight will be

I just moved things around and put the babies inside the tent under 3 WW + 1 NW cause that's all I have tube wise. The insides of the veg tote is ~ 14 x 18, so they are only getting ~ 23w. I could add one NW, but it's only 7w, however, I do have one Cree WW with a cracked globe. I will take it back and get a NW, that will almost double the wattage the plants see

You might need to remind me. My next grow thread is on IC, gotta spread the love.

I do have one Cree WW with a cracked globe. I will take it back and get a NW, but even adding it may not mean that much beyond the 20 w, although the extra ~17w will be concentrated inside the tote

Im more into the DRY bud photos...shows what is underneath the hood....

No dark period then...?

I could but would have to keep them in the dark for 5 days to follow best astrological sign beyond today, so, no.

I have done the dark before. How do you know whether it helps or not?

I cut water to them earlier today and left them under the lights, but slowly removed the ufo and globes

Keep in mind this was an experiment to see what 80w of tubes would do for flowering, and total wattage was ~110w, although on Clone #1 also had the 'benefit' (saw none to speak of) od the ufo 90, which may not be more than 50w of R:B 80/20

Although it was a 'success' to get PHAT Nugz I think I need >50-100 more watts

In a prolonged dark period... it is a natural response for cannabis at the end of the flowering to try and spread its seed....increased trichome production is the result

as a pointless aside....it also changes the colour of my buds to hues of purple as i take it right out of the growing environment into a cold one...

About 96 hours in the dark....finished watering 4 days before that (so no mould would form)...Freshly dried 'Pineapple Express' curing to come...

I decided to try to reveg the larger of the 2 clones, so weight does not include all the main stalk

I am using the HH to reveg (not pictured)

>99gms + 13 gms trimmed. Broken bud shot was weighed earlier, and already hanging to dry

First shot is 13gm bud that I accidentally snapped off the plant earlier today

Mind walking me through your technique? I have not yet chopped Clone #1. Do I add any water to the bucket, or leave it dry.... or ?
