Hey everybody! well i have my setup ready, seeds arrived and now i have a little bit of a dilemma/question maybe some of you can recommend what to do...

planing on having 4 plants in my 3x3x6 grow tent with my 600w, 2 gallon hempys

I have 5 fem. critical kush seeds, 1 fem. Mazar x White rhino, and 2 White widow x Skunk #1 Regular seeds

My question is how many seeds is adequate to germinate if i would want 4 plants?

Germ all and keep the healthiest 4 females by flower? am i wasting seeds doing this?

Is it better to grow all one strain rather than 2 and 2 or etc...

Any insight is welcome Thank you all my hempy friends!
:weed:
Well since you paid for them just stick to 4. When using bag seed I usually will times the number of plants I want by 2 or 3. But I have a shitload of bag seed. You bought yours so just start off with how many plants you want to have. If some don't germinate you can always germinate more. Why waste if you don't have to.

If they're fem seeds you should only get females. Veg them for a few weeks (3 is ideal) under 18/6 lights. Around the 3rd node take your clones. A DWC or aeroponics are ideal for this.

As far as strains, grow one of each and see what you like best! Just mark your hempy buckets so you'll know which is which!

Good luck with your grow!!

Nice Cola WC!

FJG, I think that more experienced growers will often pop more beans
that they need plants, to pick the strongest from. I am new and bought
one female seed from each of a slew of great breeds. I will love whatever
I get.

If you want to grow the regulars, then pop both of those, and hope for a female.

Good luck,

JD

Hey fellow Hempy-ers, I wanted to give you a heads-up about posting pics. Basically, don't post ANY taken from your cell phone, only from a digital camera (an older one is preferable). When you take a pic with your cell phone, a bit of data is encoded into it with the date, time, AND place it was taken (via GPS). This is especially true with iPhone pics. Just an FYI -I'm an IT guy, and I know how easy it is to hack data in pics!!

Hey L, don't sites like this one strip that stuff automatically?

I do not know, and urge caution as well.

I believe that The Shroomery does this.

Thanks for sharing.

Not necessarily! I always, always, ALWAYS err on the side of caution. That's why I never post pics. I don't own a digital camera, so it is not worth the risk to me. Just be forewarned. I'm sure you'll probably be OK, but if the DEA wants to build a case against you, they could start with the pics you're posting.

so whats everyones outlook on air pruning and hempy's... its the one thing i WISH i could take advantage of, and is steering me back towards soil (at least for my 3 fem'd big bud seeds from vision)
the reason being is i build my room to take advantage of floor air making an air hockey type floor
i understand it's important for there only to be a few holes because the closed area helps with the wicking
but i was hoping i could take and put holes in the bottle, and then line the outsides with landscape (smartpot) fabric

Looking at the 3L's they have potential, because the biggest plants seems to be happy in there it's the smaller ones that seem to have a hard time getting there roots everywhere. I think that they end up spinning around the outside at first if they're too small because they can't get enough moisture from the center. So i feel solving this by root pruning like an air pot , and using a denser medium (straight coco pyth??)

Any ideas on how i might be able to put lots of holes all over the bucket and what medium to use??? THANKS FELLAS! keep up the greaaat work!

p.s. its bull they haven't stickied this yet... at least do it for moe right?! c'mon mods!

Shitty? no way man...lots of velvety red in those tops Sky!

Thanks man. Been very busy. I'll give y'all total weight in about a week or so. They are drying but I still have a lot of trimming to do. Trimming sucks but its not so bad with single colas. Btw it is if you have a lot of them. Lol. Here is a pic of my first budsicles that I trimmed last night. image.jpg

Hey Nizza, not sure why you would want to put more holes? One hole about 7/16 of an inch wide about 2" from the bottom or so is more than enough. With more holes you may find yourself constantly watering, instead of just once a day or once every other day.

As far as a medium I have found the easiest is a 3:1 perlite to vermiculite mix. I have grown in a coco/perlite mix as well following these steps (http://www.stonerhaven.com/topic/384-how-to-coco-hempy/), but I just started a new grow and I am finding that the perlite/vermiculite mix is better. I know some people use straight perlite.

the reason i want to do this is because i want air to prune the sides of the roots in. the 3l's i got are O.k. but i'm having root spinout issues and was thinking maybe if i used a dense coco mix or maybe even rockwool , with the resevoir on the bottom, that I would be able to use these pots. Just want to know what people think would wick water enough and still allow air, but not too much air so that it dries out so fast, know what i'm sayin??

sorry for having such a vague idea but i was hoping others could chime in, even if you don't think your idea helps, sometimes it does in little ways!
