I paid the girls a visit and some are looking much better and have grown a lot in a couple of days, there is one though that is still struggling and is all droopy and sorry looking, anyway I gave a 1/2 strength feeding of fish mix, full strength dose of rhizotonic and 1/2 cal mag.
Just waiting on my neem oil from amazon to come to give them a little spray in case they have a fungus issue, I did notice some nibbling on the leaves but couldn't see any critters,it doesn't look bad though.

Bulbs are bulbs are far as I'm aware, I've bought both MH and HPS from the US and they've been fine, maybe you're thinking of electrical items, I think they run off 110v and over here it's 230v but I could be wrong on that.

Yoiu could be right about the feeding Jay but they had perked up after the flushing, I only fed them this morning,I've lost most of the fan leaves on them so I guess if they do survive yield is going to well down but as my old man says a half a loaf is better than none.

Had to get my new outdoor seedlings under some cover, this rain and cold isn't doing them too many favours. I don't think the summer is coming back lol. On the plus side, no need to water the veg.

I'll probably stick out a few more myself, have some auto freebies coming they are definitely candidates.

The kinky cheese looks good, should be a nice smoke.

You are looking more down the right road then I am, autos seem to be perfect for our climate. I'd imagine if they could finish up around the start of september, a lot of mould issues could avoided completely. Now lets say a small prayer to the sun god and nope he shows his face again.

I don't know much about autos but considering how late it is they might be an option, I have 2 LSD in the tent now under a 125w cfl and will add a couple of WW maybe to that so if I can make use of the outdoors as well and maximise on production, might have enough schmoke for a good while then, sick of paying 50 quid for poxy little bags.

It's now absolutely pissing down here now.

Great idea Jay.
Unfortunately I couldn't have a polytunnel, too many people call and the nosier ones would want to see what "veggies and flowers" I'm growing:)

Greetings! New grower here. Whoop whoop! Some advice if possible guys. I started my babies under a 600W HPS, but they got schorched to death within hours. Now I have restarted more seeds and lifted the light up higher to try and reduce the heat. They are looking ok now, but seem to be stretching like crazy, and flopping over. Used some string to keep them upright, but I don't think this si the way it is supposed to be... Any reason for this? Do I need a didfferent type of light for seedlings? I think I read somewhere about CLF's or something like that. Just got some equipment of my mate, so I am at a loss here. Are there any good books out there that will help me! I am a bit paranoid as to where I go and who sees me when I shop for things, so I might not want to go look in Easons or something like that...

Thanks guys (and potentially girls)

start the seeds off under a cfl, or even in the window if you can, until say they put out there 2nd node, then repot them into a slightly larger pot and stick them under the hps, it can be that bit to strong for some strains starting off and i`ve burnt a few aswell....

hang your light and with your palm faceing the bulb (while its on and up to temp) slowly lower it away from the bulb, when you can`t feel the heat thats where the top of the plants go, so lets say its fine about 2ft away from the bulb, them the tops go 2ft away aswell....

raise the bulb as they grow toward it...

thats just a basic tho, need more info, like you growing in a room, a shed, a tent, attic even? soil i take it and even some soils can be too rich or hot and burn them up??

nice to have you along by the way and any question just ask, were here to help if we can...;)

Welcome,
As ae says you'll be fine with a few cfls, you can use any cool white ones fom the 2 euro shop or wherever and if the sun is shining like it was last week the window sill is ideal.
The 600w will stand to you but it's not neccessary at this early stage.
Also when you repot you should bury them to just below the cotyledons and basically read a few threads and a book or two and you'll be fine.
If you prefer just download a few ebooks from the pirate bay, there are hundreds of them there.
