The French Cannoli` Hash Thread

Today was a bittersweet moment for me... I am moving from the west coast and so I made my last batch of hash from my own harvest. It will be the last time for a few years until I finish schooling.

Enough sob story... I wanted to thank you again Frenchy. Without your knowledge and desire to share, this wouldn't have been possible. They say "save the best for last," and this is by far the best hash I've ever made. I can't wait to watch it cure in my (freshly cleaned) jar!

This is a mixed batch and the trichomes were extracted over 4 washes. Broomhandle and a 5 gallon bucket. 10 minutes each pull.

Pre-press trichomes 73 micron

Pre-press 45 micron

Pressed and rolled up Frenchy style! It's the length of a lighter and about the same width too.

Thanks again mate! Cheers.
You are going with a BANG Brownbear.

Dang Frenchy/CA! Gorgeous work guys. I could tell the black label was going to be some pretty hash, but that is awesome. Is the marbling from the oxidized layers and the center contrasting?
The marbling is from the oxidized layers, but you are also looking at the ripeness palette of colors of the trichomes

You should go for a smaller microns size than 200 for your catch bag, somewhere around 150 is perfect.
The EZ strainers seems to do the job, not so EZ to get your trichomes from it but at that price you cannot complain.

Black Label Cannoli, bigger is 70 first wash, second is second wash and the transparency on top is the 45 microns. Again you can see how little you find in the 45 bags when the trichomes are perfectly ripe, and that with a third wash.

Superb! I noticed afterward when I tossed the water how many trichs were left at the bottom (everything below 75) And eventually I will probably get a 45 too but for the longest time I will use gravity to collect anything below 75 and toss the water in soups or something. I am very satisfied with the 75microns EZ strainer, I am collecting more trichs than ever before!! (I would always lose a lot with the gravity method) and it has never been so easy to make hash, I ll make some more tomorrow :eyesmoke:

Using water to clean the vegetal matter is a very good technique, but it works better as a "second cleaning operation", especially after a dry sieve.

Hi sir,

You said in previous post that one could lightly caress the buds 2 weeks previous to the harvest to get some charas. I'm two weeks away from harvesting two plants but the way you said it sounded like you wouldnt do it yourself...
Should i have a try or should i wait for my harvest to come a stop being a kid waiting for the amusment park to open?

Have a dank day!

I would personally do it but I do not recommend it if you have never done Charas before. It is tricky, so you'll have to wait until you have trims. A Dank one 2u2

I'll try on my next harvest - a month from now - those are so magnificent it would be a bummer to do anything stupid, i'll have to start one day though charras and finger hash are some of the tastiest type of hash to me :)

Thanks a lot!

I love your enthusiasm for hash Frenchy. I've noticed before.that you say that charas is the creme de la creme of hash...and also now you say that it is tricky. My only tutorial on charas is the ghs strain hunter vid, and to be honest there isn't.much more out there. If you ever have the time to explain any tips/tricks etc on c haras making that would be great. I feel that you have a lot to offer on this subject since having lived in charas areas.

It is difficult to explain a technique without showing the process. I may be able to make some Charas this season with some growers who are trusting enough and I will definitely ask TC to do a video. I would love to enter some Charas at the Emerald Cup alongside my dry and water sieve.

Love your work Frenchy. Btw, what did you think of the agent orange hash you made?
