Miracle Grow

Grow it and roll it!

I'm attempting to use miracle grow because I don't want to have to spend a lot of money on nutrients IF I don't have to. Oddly enough, my 2 plants aren't doing too well right now... Keep in mind that I'm still new to this please..:? At any rate, I think I'm going to leave them in the apparently horrible miracle grow soil, go to my local hydro shop, suck it up, and pay for the good nutrients... The thing is I'm growing in soil... Should I just convert to hydro or will the hydro nutrients be okay for soil plants..? Sorry for my lack of knowledge/experience in this field, but I just want to grow mj correctly and in a healthy manner, so I'm open to suggestions.

if youre going to leave them in the miracle grow and they are still young I wouldnt add nutrients to the soil since its self feeding. you should wait at least a month to add any nutes to the soil. also, if you post pictures of your plants people may be able to tell you whats wrong with them.

what kind of lighting are you using?
what are you watering them with? (if its tap water you should leave it out over night)
do you have a ph tester and a moisture meter? (both probes are like $5-7 each at most stores that sell garden supplies) these are crucial when growing. if your tap water has high ph you may need to use ph drops (from fish stores) or buy distilled (which is sort of expensive)
if the moisture meter tells you they are dry it might be underwatering. if its really wet and you water a lot it could be over watering.

hey superhigh, have u ever heard of using pool ph down to ph out tap water? All it is is sodium bicarbonate. What do u think? I experimented with it and it only take 1/4 teaspoon for a gallon of water, well for my tap water(its out of a well)

miracle grow will grow some decent weed(when you dont get a batch with a fucked up nute mix)...but the weed taste like shit....the first thing you dont want to do is buy your soil and nutes from home depot....do profesional gardeners use home depot...no..do professional landscappers use home depot...no....you might be saying "but nick..i dont have a hydro store where i live"...well you may not...but i will be willing to bet that you do have a nursery or gardening store...remember...alot of people grow other things than pot...a hydro store isnt the only place to get good quality nutes and soil....

Thanks for the info Superhighme, I'll have to get some probes tomorrow. It's funny that you bring up the pictures and help section, I did that earlier today! I'm already getting some helpful comments:mrgreen: And as you asked, I'm using 2 CFL's with different qualities. What I mean by different qualities is that the first CFL has a k value of 5500, which is close to natural daylight, and the second one has a red tinge to it, with a k value of about 3200. I've had them on for 24 hours ever since I built my grow room, which was almost right after the first one sprouted, 17 days ago. I am watering them with tap water, I'll have to start leaving it out, or aerating it with my bubble stone. Thanks very much for the info!:peace:

Using Miracle Grow Moisture Control myself, vegged about 3weeks, into 3 weeks of flowering, just sexed 4 days ago. Started adding flower nutes 1/2 strength 10-52-10 and 1/2 teaspoon Simply Apple Juice into 1/2 gal after the first 2 weeks, have done it 4 times, 2 waters per week ~3days apart, since nutes have began. Just added a small dose of molasses today to ween it on as well.

She's loving it. And havn't had any nute burn thus far at all, all CFL, UVB grow. Waiting to see how the buddage is going to come in, very good Asters, i've got alot of growth with a small scrog, with some pretty hardcore training.

I don't know whats the deal with MG??? Tastes like shit buds?? How is this possible, improperly flushed, and nutrient heavy mabey???

dont know anything about it. you could test it. I mean its the same thing basically. its something to lower the PH of the water. i cant imagine the makeup being much different than the kind you buy at a fish store. you could try seeing what ingredients both ph balancing items have.

I dont know much about balancing ph because my tap water is a steady 6.4 without setting it out or treating it. and my soil hasnt ever had any ph issues.

i think this debate is over,,,its obvious yes u can grow with miracle grow,or wih an organic soil. If your a moron who spends alot of money on soil and nutes but dont know anything,of course there plants will look like shit. Also of course your plants will do much better in organic, ive done both and seen the differane,,just water in veg and start up light on the nutes thats all

Once again, I had to laugh at the first sentence. Do you think any of us want to spend a lot of money on nutrients, if we did not have to?

OH,, and ditch the miracle grow soil also, pick up FOX farm soil at the hydro shop, if NOT COCO.. I love the COCO, it is much easier then regular soil, is very forgiveing, and still has all the benifits of soil.

Hmm,, the way I rant about COCO I should buy stock in that company..

Bud, go buy COCO and a one part fert for vegging. COCO is almost impossible to over water.

Here are two plants growing in 3 gallon grow bags full of nothing but COCO. They are just sitting in that hydro system right now, the system is not active.

very informative thread, lots of different positions... The debate is certainly over- but to people like myself, a first time grower (using a grocery store variety in very low dose- and molasses this is very interesting... Thanks

most likely the growers did not do a pre-harvest flush. if you dont they its gonna taste bad
no...they did a flush...and these are very experienced growers from nor-cal that did a few plants in miracle grow to settle the same dispute....weed tasted like shit........same strain grown in coco...mmmmmmm tasty.........

whoaaaa, ok i am new here, BUT i READ in these forums that the last month of flowering you are not supposed to use ANY nutes, ie natural flushing....I use coco/ie grow coir, coconut fiber based soil wit a small amount of potting soil mixed in....i also use 1/2 strength miracle grow everytime i water once a week, and my plants love it....only prob i had in my grow was when i screwed up the dam ph and made it too low...with my water 7.0-6.8 is a good ph since my coco has a ph of 5.8 to 6.2, i use the miracle grow houseplant all purpose stuff, but when i go to flower i will be using ionic bloom and boost, then no nutes lol..I don't think taste will suffer, if ya don't use any nutes the last month of flowering, at least from what i read here

I yhave never heard of going 4 weeks with no nuts. One week, too two weeks is the mormal.

I could not even think of trying to shoot for a 4 week flush, Hmm, trichs are 70% cloudy 30% clear.. Ok I flush now and in 4 weeks I will have 80% cloudy, 20 amber... Way to much error.
