Shoot...in the 60's I was an air cadet and did the "link" trainer course..which was the 1st sort of flight simulator, the same thing as the CAE simulators that they use now to train pilots. Plus then training was easily available, a course for a private instrument flight license was about $350.00.....i should have been smarter and got my license...

$350!!!? Wow... If I hadn't worked my way up to my ratings just by flying and instead paid for everything, I can imagine I'd be about 30-40k in the hole. That's amazing man, I'll have to tell that to a few pilots I know who're complaining about training costs. There's still time, you can always get your license... and for those who don't want to fly fast and high, there's the sport license which pretty much insures that with a drivers license, you can also be a pilot. Check it out.

I think it's mostly all pilot-error that caused the crashes... here's a great site for you in California, also the aircraft they list are A+ trusted designs, especially Tecnam and Remos aircraft, they're great!

All things being equal, if I've got to go down I want it to be in one of those little planes, because with the exception of the Air Transat pilot (from Quebec) that glided a 737 after running out of fuel......the only plane that glides is small.....Twisty don't crash well...

Haha, yep establish best rate of glide and hope for the best! I tell ya what, if I had the money I'd by a Cirrus... they've got parachutes!

i had to fly in one of those little planes to get to a certain part of north dakota from another airport. i cant remember why but it was scary as fuck. we had the worst turbulence and i swear to god the plane was just fucking crashing through the air it was so bad. I will never in my life get in one of those bastards again!!

I dont really fly now anyways. no reason to. I hate airplanes. I always get sick after i fly! so LAME!
