If you are younger, you took a "post graduate holiday, to broaden your horizons and further your world knowledge, so as to be a more productive, educated, and culturally aware person." (under 25, under 30 with 6 or more years of secondary education.)
If you are older, you took a sabbatical. You became frustrated with work, and felt that you could become more proficient, and gain a better world perspective, by taking sabbatical and travelling abroad.
One last thing: You fill out a job application, you submit a resume.
EDIT: And, contrary to what people are saying, don't lie. If you are given a position of trust, due to that lie, and the lie comes out, you may become liable in both civil and criminal court. If you get caught and aren't given a position of trust, you could have immediate termination of employment, with no unemployment benefits; and that cheating will stay with you, just like cheating at university.
