Seeds meant for eating arent treated with chemicals... usually still raw. ussually so raw that if you can find the right seed supplier the seeds still have a white film of latex on the seeds 
and small amounts of poppy "skuff" mixed in.

meh.. okay okay.. Opium tea is a great way to not have any sort of accuracy (as you don't really have any accuracy as to the percentage of actual active chemicals in the latex form itself) and you make it far less accurate as to the amounts active in a tea solution.
Hydroponic poppies? You just ruined the one good thing poppies are good for, spreading. Like I said earlier, when the poppies die at the end of their shitty life cycle, it will drop seeds like a mother fucker! Making a wildfire effect of more and more and more and so on and so forth of an army of poppy plants. Grow it in soil.. if you can grow them in a window sill, I would imagine you could cut it close using house lighting! So yeah, I would more than imagine that a CFL of any decent watts will be more than sufficient to grow a few poppies in your house.
As to the poppy seeds in a store, such as you would buy for a food item, generally yes they are treated (heat I believe) and I would imagine you're wasting your money when you can go to any half decent garden store and buy opium poppies that are far more viable and will probably turn out and be a sure thing in the end.

Finally, if you're burning opium with weed.. you're a cock fucker. Get a hash pipe/opium pipe/meth pipe/vaporizer and do just that... fucking vaporize it. Direct flame is a great way to degrade all the hard work that you have just gone through of finding poppies, germanating them, growing them, cutting them, and collecting the opium down to a minascule bullshit product of jack fucking shit. (direct flame significantly lowers the quality of the opium).

Hydroponic poppies are nice cause they grow fast. I score the poppies and collect the opium. Then after they die I open the pods and collect seeds. Where Im at the soil is horrible its mostly clay and the do not grow well at all. I us 600watt MH lighting up until flower and then depending if its sunny or not I use 400 watt HPS.

i want to shed some light for you....
the reason for hydroponic poppies are...
1. were talking about growing them indoors!
2. if you grow hydroponically, after the pod is "spent" you chop the fucker off and blam a new one grows and you continue with the same plant for months steadily harvesting opium everyday, no need to grow a plant for 4 months just to get a little opium then wait a whole nother' 4 months to get some more!
with that said i agree with you totally with the letting them "spread" when they are outside, but this is inside his house he dont want poppies coming out of the rug

Sad to say, if you are growing not so much - and who has half an acre to grow flowers on, the very best way to consume it is as you say! But this is not what opium is really about - it is about the smoke, the pleasant rush and the ritual. I know of no one, including myself who has ever grown enough to be extravagant enough to simply milk the things and make a ball of raw O to smoke, let alone cooking it as is recommended.

I have grown enough to score the pods and collect the opium. 10-15 poppy pods will give you 1 gram of raw opium. One year I grew poppies guerrilla style in the same garden area that I grew my marijuana. Where I'm located I plant the poppy seeds in November. They are ready for harvest in June. After I harvested the poppies I then planted my MJ clones. That was 2009 or 2010. November 2011 I planted 40,000 Persian White poppy seeds between two different gardens about 20 miles apart from each other. But I ended up getting locked up and going to prison April 2012 so I wasn't around for harvest time. I got out last month. I'm hoping that they have spread and will grow again this year coming up(2013). I just need to get some more AA(Acetic Anhydride) so I can convert it from O --> M --> H. I remember buying AA back in 2009 and I eventually got it online from a chemical house but they had me fill out a form in order for me to get it. On the form I had to write what I was going to use it for. So I put down a reason and they sent it. But now you can buy it off eBay, I just looked on there and you can get 4L for $179.00 along with other amounts. Hell you can get all the chemicals off ebay. They use to sell the pods on ebay even, if they still did ebay would be a complete one stop shop. As far as seeds go though you can still buy those on eBay and else where. You should only need to buy seeds once though. After your first grow you will have A LOT of seeds. Just take your dried pods drill a hole in the top and pour the seeds out. The first time I bought seeds I bought 125,000 of them. I grew quite a few of them but not all. Then I moved states and somehow I lost the remaining ones.(125,000 seeds takes up maybe a quarter cup at the most). So the next time I ordered some I bought them from a person who sold pods on ebay. I contacted them directly and I bought 175 dried pods. The sellers I bought them from normally would take out the seeds and keep them for themselves and just send the pods that you paid for. But they sent me the pods with the seeds cause I was always asking them questions on how to better grow poppies. So the hooked me up and sent the 175 pods w/ seeds. I drilled the pods and collected thousand upon thousand of seeds. So many it filled up a cereal bowl. Those were all Persian Whites. I sold quite a few of the seeds and grew the rest, even the poppies I planted Nov. 2011 were the 3rd generation of those seeds. Anyways I just thought I'd add to this thread. You're definitely doing something wrong if you're only seeing a gram of goodies per 10-15 pods...LoL What are they, micropods? My average yield is 2-5 grams per 1 Pod... and that's only with 2 lancings/ medium sized pods. I've pulled up to 10 grams off 1 pod via giganteum.

There is absolutely no way your getting 2-5g per pod. That's a average of 3.5g per pod. That means it's only taking you 286 pod's to get 1kg of raw opium. When converting the raw to cooked opium you'll lose around 25%(give or take a couple points). So now your 286 pods turned into 1kg raw opium which is now 775g of cooked opium.
Or if you wanted to make heroin your 286 pods equals 1kg of raw opium which can be made into 118g of heroin(of course this depends on the morphine alkaloid content, but as a general rule it's anywhere from 10 to 1 through 7 to 1, which means the average ratio(which is what I used when coming up with the 118g.) is 8.5 to 1 meaning it takes 8.5g of opium to produce 1 gram of heroin or 1000g opium -->118g heroin). This means it would only take you 2,421 pods to produce 1kg of heroin, that would be amazing! Considering poppies produce more than one pod you could grow enough poppies to make a kilogram of heroin in a basement. If you spaced the poppies 6" apart you could grow 2,500 poppies in a 25' x 25' area. With a acre you could yield enough opium to produce about 17kg of heroin. If you are getting a average of 3.5g opium per pod then you need to write a book and share the knowledge with poppy grower's throughout the world. With those kind of yields per acre the price of heroin should drop dramatically considering that the average yield for all other poppy growers is 80mg per pod. Your 3.5g(3,500mg) yield is 43.75 times more than the 80mg yield. That means the price should drop 43.75 times lower than the current market price for heroin. And just imagine if all us poppy growers started pulling 10g opium off one pod! Off one pod you could get 1.18g of heroin. That means it would only take 847 pods to produce a kg of heroin. If you just get 3 pods per plant that means it would take 282 plants to get a kg of heroin. I could start popping out a kg of pure heroin 3-4 times a year by just setting up a grow room in our spare bedroom......ok I've had my fun I'm done
