The Car Talk Thread

Yea you know I always thought those guys like the dudes that race horses get way to into that stuff. When you start trying to lose weight so your car is faster something is off.

I think being a drag racer f1 wouldn't fill that void, not enough power. Haha I know this doesn't really belong but I would love a maybach

f1 cars are powerful because they have one of the best weight to power ratios out of pretty much all cars... zero to 100 and back to zero in under 5 seconds, not to mention cornering speeds not seen by anything else..
motorcycles come in a close second, but they lose to an f1 car everytime as soon as they hit the twisty's..

an f1 car weighs about 1415 lbs, including the driver, and have close to 800 or so hp, giving them a hp to weight ratio of 1.75 pds per hp.. :D

sorry, my f1 geekness is shining through bright and clear.. :D

Haha I see your f1 geekness and raise you a 1/4mile.
Yea that is awesome, you haen to know how many latteral g's they pull?

I think a cars true performance is best felt on the skidpad, g's are king

But My mustang can best that! With the help of a parachute cough cough but enough about stupid stinger..
When they hit the twisties is key here. A car that can hit 200 in a second is more impressive to me than anything else.. But it is a lot more fun to go 200 while taking a turn and that feeling of not being able to lift your body upright lol

Obviously I'm in love with the drag strip that's just where I was raised

don't quote me on this one, but off the top of me head i want to say about 3.5 g's in the turns.. i'll go look it up in a second though to see how close ( or far off) i was / am...

f1 cars also produce enough down force that in theory they could drive upside down and stick to the road still, which i always think is pretty cool.. :D

edit, i'd probably have to chop off me legs to get into one, and not sure how much fun that really would be as i don't think they've ever had like a six foot four f1 driver before as most of them are munchins for the most part.
They share many traits with fighter pilots. The aerospace companies don't make the fast jets for us larger-framed sorts. cn

i've honestly never really thought about the need for a fighter pilot to be on the smaller side, but now that i do, makes perfect sense..

I'm less into the skidpad and more into the road courses, of which the Nürburgring is the current king. You can build a great skidpad car that loses it when the dynamics of S-turns and freaky lane changes are tossed into the mix. (And that is also where modding a muscle car won't do.) I can't give a rat's roasted rump about quarter miles personally. cn

I spent my adolescence bemoaning it. Now I know I'd'a failed on reflexes alone. Only the guys with real gunfighter reflexes get to pilot the serious speed (money). cn

there is actually a height limit set in place, I believe it's 6 foot or just barely over that. I may have posted part of this build as they were working on it, but here's it finished :)

oh, i'd love to fly one of them fighter jets, don't get me wrong, but my disdain for all things military kept me from really looking much into the subject tbh..
and yeah, when i was maybe 17 or so, i was sort of into the 1320, but then i discovered f1 and haven't really looked back.. :D

yeah, alex wurz was i think a hair over 6 foot, maybe 6 1 on a good day.. he only raced for a few short seasons, but is an animal at test driving..

hey swag, is that limit for fighter pilots that you're talking about?? lol, my bad, i had thought you had meant for f1 drivers, my bad, and my comment obviously reflects my confusion.. :D

Somehow the point I was trying to make got lost...hey nice refrence I have that engine in my car, My mustang will hit 60 faster than any supercar you can think of, hell it'll get to 200 before most hit 60. Anyone who's been to a drag race knows that.

I was trying to make a point that when you get behind the wheel of something that "refined" its just not fun.

By the way my fox body has full independent suspension etc,and really is nothing like an old muscle car. Big difference from 90's ad late 60's early 70's ... But yea I get your point
lol i wanted to call your bluff a few posts ago but after this one i know your full of BS. you mustang is probably stock with a cold air intake on it so you think its fast. lets have some real car conversation here. you mustang is faster than any super car lol give me a break. anything you say from here on is meaningless.

Yea bro this will be the last post I put in any of your threads..

And wether or not you believe me about my vehicles means nothing. I've never posted my times. It doesn't matter anyone who's ever been to a real drag race knows they are over in under 8 seconds with the real cars under 3 seconds.. So yea name 1 suercar that reaches 300mph in 3seconds. No my mustang isn't quite this fast. Before you just start trolling why don't you think first. Maybe do some research. What do you think your zonda will do in the 1/4 bet my "cold air intake" will beat it

Anyways I'm done here..dueces
