hell yea man...if i had that cab my goal would be to maximize the use of space to maximize yield. this 1st run look at it as almost minimums (dial in) run. even thou uve had some veg time and shit on this one its hard to call it a minimum but imo its easier to pull larger yields with strength in numbers..
have u ever checked out the 12-12 from seed thread? most of the time if kept in 20 or 16 oz cups the plants tend to grow as 1 solid bud, and im pretty sure ive seen 14 gram dried plants with less of a set up then u have. just some food for thought..yea its strain dependent and lots of other variables but it gives u an idea of ur potential.
Yeah, right on... definitely just getting dialed in with this light setup.... the thread title is a faux paux ;) it was referring to finally getting the ventilation for my closet right more than anything, lol.

Yeah I've seen some of the 12-12 thread... I want to maximize yield from each plant though so I figured the bigger the container the better... but don't want to sacrifice space, so I'm thinking just vertical addition, so the roots can go deeper but the plant stays narrow. Like instead of just growing the whole cycle in a solo cup, I'm picturing one stacked on top of the other, taped together in the middle, with the bottom of the top one cut out for a top hole... so then I've got a super-tall version of the same footprint.

Do you actually run RIGHT from seed with 12-12 or do you give them veg light for a week or two to get through seedling stage?

the ones that were straight up all bud are no veg 12-12 from seed.
yea u could do that, probably better of using bottles stacked..
solo cups are what 16 oz right?!?! so if need be u could use them.. but yea im sure u have heard of dr.bud and his sog..well he had explained like i told u earlier anything larger then 20oz could promote bushing of the plant instead of 1 soild nug plant.. this dude anti went on to copy detail for detail what dr.bud did and found out the dr wasnt lying about his yields or anythign he had said, and one of those things being how to get 1 soild bud. anti used 32oz for 1 run, alot of them bushed out and a few stayed as 1nug, but all his 20 oz and 16 oz runs were just that.. id love to see what dr.bud would say about ur set up seeing he wont run hid's at any cost. he would cream himself...
that dude anti went on and used the dr. methods with hids doing it vert stadium style with even disco balls to reflect light and killed it with his yields.. if u want antis link which is detailed to every fucking aspect its nuts; let me know! its def a good reference grow.. his non hid set up has nothing on urs
P.s. I MEAN DEATAILED. even his plans before he starts. fuck it here!

Cool man, thanks for the link, I'm gonna check it out.

That's real interesting how going past about 20 oz's seemed to make the difference for him whether or not the plants branched. Very interesting indeed. I could probably come up with some 20 oz. containers of some sort to use, some soda bottles or somethin'. I was originally thinkin I should do bigger containers to maximize yield but maybe you're onto something there. Not to mention it's a lot less space with smaller containers anyway.

Fuck it, I'll give it a go when space allows. I'm still thinking maybe give them a week of 24 hr light to get rooted nicely before flipping though...

Wow, holy shit, those plans are fucking mega. I love that he even worked in a stealth drying room with in-line air flow. That is bad ass.

Edit: Holy shit, pull out shelves for the grows too. Wow, this dude really thought out this design. This is pretty sweet. I may have to build something like this someday... don't really want to scale down that far but man, that's impressive.

They go thru a veg period no matter what lol. That's why I don't get 12/12 from seed. I guess just to stick to being true 12/12?

maybe for power consumption, or just bragging rights for true 12/12 like you said.

I figure if they're going to veg anyway there hsould be less stretching in veg giving them 24 hrs. of light the first week or so... that was my logic anyway... better root development too I would think? But now that I think about it, haven't I heard something about root development mostly happening during the dark cycle? Seems to ring a bell... not sure how true it is though, considering I've run 24 hour light cycles during veg more often than not. maybe 16/8 then 12/12 after a week if it is true...

lol yea he dont fuck around, and yea u would be scaling down but just adopt an idea or 2.
my plants are in solo cups, probably about 18-20 inches tall. i transplanted a sugar punch into a 2 liter because it was really showing some transplant shock and it def has bushed out since then. it is said that roots like to go deep rather then wide, so ur tall pot containers idea would do.

yea them bottles stack good, people can make some sick double percs outta them.
i would cut the neck off just to be on the safe side. im going to start out my chemd x aww x the white, g13 x hashplant, and monkey balls outta a 12/12 from seed

Glock, it makes me wonder if it's the volume of a pot or the width of it that is triggering branching... were Anti's bigger containers just as narrow as the 20 or less sized ones, or were they wider? That could be the trigger in theory, they say plants grow in the shape of the container because the roots expect to branch in the same directions as the branches to support them. (Sorry for just askin you instead of researching it myself, I'm holding up like four conversations at once right this moment, lol)

Thats wassup bro! Good luck man. Journal all that and hit me up when you do!
Seconded!

Also, Sincerely, "That's wassup bro" <--I don't know why but every time you say this I crack a grin... I swear I was working with or knew someone who said this constantly but now I can't place where/how I'm so familiar with the phrase. Haha. (I know it's a common phrase but it's killing me because I feel like I'm thinking of a specific person each time, but can't place who it is, lol)

that very much could be. in my line of work; we put conduit undeground and we are taught to look at the above tree to have a good idea of were the roots are and how they are looking like. ill tell you this does hold true but varies from tree to tree. so yea theoretically narrower pots that are tall will slow or discourage bushing out, and u will notice since roots can go deep they wont really show that there are in need of a transplant.
one thing that is for sure is clones lack the vigor that seeds have. i bet 12/12 from seed would result on some great growth. im going to put it to the test asap. my cab is only 1.5 sq ft. and i will be pushing 100w per sq ft so im looking forward what that will output.

Hahaha... I feel like I'll be saying it constantly by the end of the week at this rate...

Well I got a bunch of bag seed that's just sittin around so might as well give it a go. Only thing with from-seed is I gotta cull males, LOL.

yes thats the truth, unless u went h.a.m. and grabbed 10 fem beans to do it with. 2 months ago on the tude was the time to do so after only spending like 70 usd u could aquire up to 12 fem seeds. gotta see how the next promo is because if i can get more then 7 ill do 1/2 12/12 and the other reg grow outs or scrog like u. sog is great because if ur willing and able to produce vast amounts of clones then you can just shoot for low numbers, like anti he always avg the same amount per clone every round. 8 avg 6 lowest 10 highest. do that perpetually and you always end up having more shit then u know to do with.

when time comes im going to find a 8 week strain, do a perpetual grow 2 rows of 8 lets say putting 1 row in a week at a time. when dialed in u could get 16-20 (antis set up) grams a week to harvest if each one consistently yields 8-10 grams. sounds petty but it adds up quick.

im pretty sure i will be pulling half zips off my plants in 4x4 pots that are 12/12 probably pretty easily.
yea alot easier then alot of people would assume. yea i can understand owning a 1000 and then looking at a 14 gram plant with disgust. but cfls and y connectors and a lil ingenuity can take u the distance.
do u have space for more plants?
