Legal disposal of Medicine and waste material ?

So within the context of the Michigan Medical Marihuana law , how do we dispose of unwanted medicine and the waste materials as well .. Had this question asked today and I agreed to post and see how other in Michigan or other legal states view this issue of legality ..

Please no replies with send the Medicine my way, that wont be happening lol and in the end it will most likely just be tossed into the burning barrel .. Do you think putting it in the trash is wise even if you are legal ? Many seem to agree with this after conversing this issue today....

What is your take on legal disposal ? I have found nothing in the law pertaining to this subject .. Thanks in advance RIU

FYI , I dont advocate throwing it into the trash due to possible complication with the law .. Shit LEO is known to dig threw peoples trash in order to obtain evidence .

COMPOST PILE. add garden lime IF U WANT to speed up the decomposing process. Would be great if you grow in soil....or you can just use it in a veggie garden or indoor potted plants.

I chop it all up so there is no way anyone can claim any part of the waste as a plant. Then goes out back to the burn barrel and all the popcorn nug I turn to full melt hash.

I agree 100%

Never put ANYTHING medical related in your trash. Recycle it, compost it, flush it or burn it!

I don't burn roach bud either I give it away for free to people who are legal with no $. Like half of my family lol. I hate rolling roach joints. I'd rather smoke fresh flowers any day.

I throw away a lot of grow related stuff including plant material like stems and leaves. My garbage man picks up at 8 a.m., I set my alarm for 7:30 a.m. on garbage day and take out the trash minutes before the garbage truck gets to my curb.

I worry about the same thing throwing it away even in Seattle.... From my understanding, if a neighbor or someone reports you for growing, the cops usually start snooping trash to get some corroborating evidence. There was a guy here on this site where that happened, they suspected him and like 3 months later he threw shit away and they were still searching his trash, which gave them the evidence to get the warrant to enter....

Even if you are legal it's not worth getting your pets/family shot by cops raiding your house only to find you're in compliance.

I really don't think they dig through the trash at your house, the trash men must throw "flagged" household's trash on the side in the truck or something and take it somewhere else to be analyzed. It's too risky to do at the scene. My dogs for example would alert me to anyone coming near my trash beyond the trash men (who they go nuts barking at).

We also have 3 different garbage cans here in Seattle, one is yard waste, another is recycle, and the 3rd is garbage, it would take them a while to get through all 3, let alone without any neighbors/you seeing/hearing it. You actually get fined for not recycling here(somehow they know/check this), but they only charge you for the for the size of your garbage can, so the more you put in recycling the cheaper your bill.

If anything I think where I live is just a few years ahead of other medical states, within the last 2 years hundreds of dispensaries in my city have popped up where a few years ago there were only a handful in the entire state. The cost has come down significantly as well as there is far more competition, I see prices for $175-$250/ounce for buds at retail dispensaries, $15-$20/gram for bubble hash and kief (with huge variety/selection), and even medical recommendations have dropped from $200/min per year to $75/year.

If the police have any idea you are growing the first thing they do is go after your trash. They won't dig through it in your front yard, they will pull up in an unmarked car, grab your trash bags and toss them in their trunk, no warrant needed.

If this happens and they find signs of a grow op they will get a warrant. Your card may save you from prosecution but it won't save you from getting your door kicked in, your garden destroyed, your family getting guns in their face and your money and other possessions taken from you. Just sayin...

Colorado formulated regulations that address these questions. I vaguely remember that vegetal material must be broken down and mixed with inert material (i.e. dirt) before composting or disposal. Common sense stuff, but they codified it so there are no gray area's.

I've heard of cops rummaging through trash on the curb at 3 a.m. in my area. Bringing the trash before the garbage man gets there is a good method. Do you really think they would tell the garbage men to set aside the trash from a specific house? There's too much liability there. Not to mention I watch them throw the trash away and it goes in the compactor with everyone else's trash. Just don't leave trash on the curb overnight is all I can suggest.
