Camera Recommendation?

digital ballasts do not affect digital photographs....I heard this yesterday don't hold me to it. Just an interesting piece of info. Use old school film camera.

Yea I defiantly notice both of those things, I will be investing in a tripod soon. How would you change the settings to let in less light, or perhaps increase shutter speed? I'm a complete camera noob so any advice is appreciated.

Increasing the shutter speed would work but I'm not sure that can be done with the Coolpix.
