Anyone have any experience with Koolbloom dry mix? I have been using the liquid for a little bit now but have no experience with dry mix supplements... Just picked up a bag of the dry today
i have only enough to know that less is more, i've only used it a few times and each time i used it incorrectly causing my plants to foxtail like crazy.

...i've since stopped using it, i'm in a new space and i want to dial in the space while i do more research on how to use the KB properly.

peace, bozo

Time to feed my hungry girls and thought I would share something novel. When I went on travel and my wife had to feed for me. I went and bought some 3oz. bottles at a Walgreen's store that were "airline approved" for travelers. I measured out the nutes ahead of time and all she had do was dump them into the 2gal container of water and feed after a good "sit" time. Now I'm using them on regular basis. Since most of the tedious part for me is measuring to the exact ml with my 60cc syringe, for every part I add to my container of water, I add another equal part to a 3oz. bottle. Then I flush the syringe before next part/add. Now three days later I simply dump the 3oz'ers into the 2gal container and mixing is done for that day in all of 30sec's. Note the Canna nutrient bottles have a nice 30ml "squeeze fill" reservoir at the top. There too is a nice way to get at the nutes with a syringe. Pouring directly from them is not as easy as it looks, or exact IMO.

New years day is coming up and since we are a tight group I wanted to see if you all would like to do some "2012 Year in Review" posts in this thread on or directly after the 1st....hempy stuff only. If you did different strains throw up some shots in groups (young plant, flowering plant and bud shots) to educate us all. Most importantly keep grows chronological. If you feel like this would be better fielded in another thread on RIU let me know. Hangovers could be a problem with the "chronological" thing so excuses are welcome at time of post (state what you drank or smoked that fucked you up so bad that order of grow can't be had).

Great idea Jela. .... Although its may take a bit of searching for my old pics. :leaf:

Also, I think we should try and convince (or ask) RIU to dedicate a part of the forum for Hempy growers. W.O.H does its best to represent and i'm sure we'll all continue as is, but soon, after hundreds of pages, much of the info will be difficult to find.

I'm think that a passive hydro section would have enough growers to make it interesting, what do you guys think?

You are definitely on to something Moe'. Passive hydro would be cool as long as there was a "hempy" sublet to that...lots of drippers out there.

Its incredible how many clever ideas you guys throw out that I have considered myself but not put into place. This is one of them. I agree with the most tedious part of indoor growing is the ml measuring of nutrients. ... .. I'll have to get round to pre-measuring like you have.

Just a thought, wouldnt it be cool if one could use 'bar optics' like those used to measure spirits in bars.

Thinking about it more .... Just had a look on the internet and this looks like it might work well. I'll try it and let y'all know. They must be accurate else bars and clubs would be losing money.

My Grodan "Grow Cubes" came in today....going to do a compaction test after soaking some to see if they hold air space between the cubes...if so I'm dedicating a "White Cheese" auto to it as a trial in a 2gal hempy bucket (no perlite res, all cubes). Seed successfully popped last night and is in a rapid rooter plug tray over heat mat..getting down to 34° tonight.

How big a bag did you get? ... They'll certainly compress but will expand whilst drying. Rockwool is great stuff.

Just ordered these off Amazon. Very cheap, considering the time it could save. The plan will be to empty nutes into 4 red wine bottles. These are 25ml, every time I use them I'll just 'spritz' the nutes into a small clear shot glass before pouring into the bucket.

Jela10, this is an interesting concept. This has obviously gone through some Jela10 stress-testing as you are DEFINITELY a man of science (Love it btw). Do you add any PH up in this process? I find that the nutes I use take my RO water down to 5.2 and needs a nice scoop of GH PH UP (dry) to bring it back to 6.0.

As you know I'm now doing a trial grow in "mapito" that I ordered from Oregon (MapitoUSA). Today I had the fortunate experience of meeting, in person, the owner of another USA mapito source "Mapito Grow Medium". He was a really nice young man with the simple interest of producing what he feels is the original Holland blend they use today while keeping a "clean" quality product. Immediately upon inspection I saw that it is totally different than the simple cube and PU flock mix I'm using now. This mix has more foam and less rockwool....the rockwool being more of a fluffy "wool" than a formed "cube". I was also given some nice samples bags besides what I purchased that you could literally use as pillows on your couch, they have that much resilience to compaction. I'll have to soak it and test it for "float" to decide if I need a separate hempy reservoir medium... if the high foam content makes things rise. The extra foam has to be a winner with hydro aeration. I can tell you before doing anything it is "clean" and is a quality mix.

My Mapito is different still.

Its has Rockwool 'flock' like the first pic but also some rockwool pieces. It doesnt have foam but COCO fiber.

Thanks for bringing this to W.O.H Jela.

edit:

Strange thing in my last bag of Mapito, I'm filling the Hempys and suddenly my hand feels something very warm inside the bag. I look inside and could see mould.

The heat was in very localised spots in the bag, and where there was heat there was mould. .... Thinking about it, I should have thrown it out, im using it in the next run. ... before I put clones in, i'll hit the hempys with some H202

Dank, haven't tested pH since February of this year...The R/O water I get is from the same source every week, plus the Canna nutes I use are designated for "soft" water. Seems like my trial departure from coco is begging for issues but they just don't happen...I think there is some magic in the hempy method somewhere but I can't prove that. pH meters suck, can't get the two I have to correlate or the test strips and color fluids. PPM's...yeah I do with any nutes brand changes and that metrology is repeatable and reproducible.

Jela,

That first Mapito looks like a pitbulls gone mad in a cushion factory.

I would feel better about it if it didnt have any coloured pieces, would they not leach?

Edit:
I guess if the pieces get paler over time then you'll know.

Strange thing in my last bag of Mapito said:
Moebius, the heat and mold means there were "organics" in your mapito mix somewhere. As a young college student in 70's, I worked for the university in a green house. They used "rice hulls" from a local rice processing plant as a mulch that I would till into gardens needing rejuvenation. When I would stab my shovel into the pile on a cold January morning, steam would rush out from the the pile and the old German boss would say, "yep, dat's about right". A really good additive to your next mapito grow would be some Cannazyme or Hygrozyme to eat off the deciduous items left in your mapito (turns it back into plant food too). Can't tell you the source of your organics unless they rode in on the coco.

I can tell you it freaked me out. I honestly thought it was an animal. (at first) lol

Thanks for the tip. I have some Hygrozym from 6 months ago, since they say it has unlimited shelf-life, I'll give it a go.

Exactly what I thought when I saw it - looks like my ferret destroyed a foam cushion then vomitted on it! LOL

Okay guys - need some advice on something I probably shouldn't buy until I bud my newest plants (Liberty haze, tangerine dream, OG Kush (Reserva privada genes), strawberry blue) have been tried, but I'm impatient. Here is what I am looking at on attitude's page, any thoughts or experience with these would be greatly appreciated! -

> Snow White (Nirvana)
> C99 (Female seeds co.)

and a third strain (undecided) -
> Blue Cheese (Barney's) -OR- > Critical Kush (Barney's) -OR- something else, I am open to suggestions. I am looking for a high yielder here.
