yes,4 x 40 liter troughs, 4 plants in each. i want to raise them up around 6" so i can get a decent res under for the run off, they will get vegged to a foot or so and all 16 will go under a 600w

edit.
may go with 6 per tray and veg less
OK ... 4 plants inside the single container like so?

yes with some foundations under ,designed around whatever res i get cheapest lol

prolly a 8" platform underneath!
Cool. ... Being able to set the res at any height completely nullifies any issues about early clones struggling to reach the res.

sorry, i think due to my description you have me wrong, the tote will be raised up on top of an 8" platform, with a separate container for run off which would sit at floor level

No, I think I get ya.

I'm just saying that you'll be able to 'shut-off' the hose to the run-off tray and set the height of the Hempy res to whatever you want.

Okay guys - need some advice on something I probably shouldn't buy until I bud my newest plants (Liberty haze, tangerine dream, OG Kush (Reserva privada genes), strawberry blue) have been tried, but I'm impatient. Here is what I am looking at on attitude's page, any thoughts or experience with these would be greatly appreciated! -

> Snow White (Nirvana)
> C99 (Female seeds co.)

and a third strain (undecided) -
> Blue Cheese (Barney's) -OR- > Critical Kush (Barney's) -OR- something else, I am open to suggestions. I am looking for a high yielder here.

Hey Praetorian, heres a thread I just finished reading by 420fied (its on a different site, I apologize if this is taboo, if its a problem ill remove it) where the guy mainly runs Snow White. The new nutes he uses look really interesting. I'm gonna try them myself in he future. 420fied is very inspirational, just like you guys here.

Supchaka, I've heard a lot about vert growing. What are the pros vs cons in your opinion? Would vert growing be aimed more towards taller plants?

You know I'm not really foreseeing myself actually growing like a vertical with multi-levels I just felt this was the best way to throw my light out in the tent without buying a new hood. From my eye test it felt like the brightness spreads out much better than what I was getting with the light horizontal. I'd like to see an actual light test with an open bulb vs a hood. I have this hunch that most of the light were actually using is already coming out that side of the bulb and not so much bouncing off a reflector from the other side. Did that make sense.

Kinda, you mean most of the light the plant gets is dirrect light and not reflected light? By multi levels you mean you would need multiple bulbs at different heights?

...high guys, hope you don't mind me jumping in here but i thought i'd share an excellent thread on the topic authored by a gifted grower from Ireland, ...he explains himself in a clear and friendly way that is easy to understand and he is open and very willing to share his knowledge and to answer questions, ...and his knowledge is vast so reading a few of his other threads is also well worth the time.

Benefits of Vertical Growing

peace, bozo

You're more than welcome bozo. I've heard it mentioned but never really looked into it. I'm assuming (I should stop doing that) that if it was better than horizontal then more people would do it. Right? I'm just wondering what its advantages and disadvantages would be.

this looks nice and simple, thanks moe i think i will go with the rule of thumb as this will be my first real hempy bucket lol, i want the biggest res possible but i dont want to go too high and hurt them! i wonder if its possible to make an adjustable hole on a slider type fixing..thanks for the input! this is exactly what im going for, i want to have 4 hempys feeding into a large res, im gonna have to start building some frames for them to raise them above the res, im thinking i could use the run off fro m tote 1 to feed the next tote ect ect, is this a brain fart or what?
InerV, I found that a wood shipping pallet works as your "frame" would when using tubing as a bucket overflow. This was my original 3.5gal setup. I would slide catch pans underneath the pallet for overflows. I used 1/2' tubing, 1/2" barbed connectors that snug up into a grommet you place in the hole. Easy install with a step drill. Also, if you use clear tubing and curl it upward and fasten it to the bucket side vertically you can gauge the level of the res by spotting the level in the tubing and mark it. So you can mount the fitting down low for "flushing" purposes should the need arise and you aren't fixed by the hole height on the side. That's how you can play with varying res depth's in a new container.

cracking info there jela! those pots look very tidy!

yes thats the one, im in a debate with myself about simply putting one tote in another vs the method that you and jela gave me info on, i will lose totes when doubling up using them for a res,but they sit nicely inside each another giving a 2" space under the top tote, with enough hempy holes cut in the top tote i should get a nice passive hydro res and even an airstone in the gap between totes.idk what to do yet as this was an impulse ebay purchase

Speaking of vertical

Very awesome! I have a tube that looks very similar, but it has a reflector in it....I wonder if I could remove it....hmmmm....

Anyways, if you ever need more airflow going up into that tube, get a lasko. Pretty cheap and they push a metric shit ton of air (measurement cited may not be a standard type of measurement).

Yeah it had the reflector in it, was just two eye bolts holding it in. I remounted those two bolts on the end and hang it from chains now.

Speaking of spending money online..... Bought a five pack of snow white (Nirvana) and a four pack of C99 (Female seed co.) last night. Got a freebie from Positronics seeds - critical 47 (Critical Mass X AK47) - and G13 labs Cheese. Too easy to buy online lol
