It took 20 minutes for the cops to respond to the school shooting... Almost half an hour for them to waddle their fat asses over to see what was going on. Why isnt anyone demanding changes in the police department?

The police department exists to protect society and not the individual yet we keep hearing anti-gun activists trying to make more and more legal citizens defenseless and dependant upon the government that has no responsibility to respond according to the supreme court.

Insanity....
whoa slow down there, they exist for fighting/ solving crime. If they are trying to do anything more we are talking tyranny.

i don't agree with breyer on that, and you probably cannot quote a majority of justices who would agree.

priavte right of armed self defense is completely fundamental to the notion of autonomy and thus liberty. i am all for some bad ass self defense weapons.

i do draw a distinction between weapons of war and self defense weapons though.
For pure civilian defense against not-very-organized criminals, I agree. (Although if a Glock with a 15-round clip is suddenly an assault weapon, I think the word warriors went a bit too far.) However I disagree with Breyer and now Sotomayor who discount the 2nd as a "fundamental right".

Here's the irony: if nobody doubted that the right to self-defense was fundamental, there'd be much less call to argue about weapons of war. But in my estimation, the two are linked. The rationale for civilly-owned weapons of war, mayhem and destruction is that it puts the people on a practical footing to challenge the government. It is my belief that the 2nd is exactly about that. By mounting an assault on the individual nature of this article in the [word!] Bill of Rights, the Federal government is setting itself up to brook none of the most direct dissent. All jmo.

Prohibition is never a good idea. cn

If you don't consider self defense to be a form of war, then you're doing it wrong ;)
shooting an intruder = self defense

repelling an invading army = war

gun nut logic is so silly and ridiculous.

how would a gun safety law have prevented this? Do storage laws make gun safes extra hard to get open?
i guarantee more people would be more careful about locking away their guns safely when not in use if there were tougher consequences for not doing so.

Yea because only 88 people have been killed by firearms this year. You're the perfect example of why gun control is a wise thing.
I almost thought you were a new moron, then I noticed you only changed your avatar, sorry.

some dude in china injured 20+ people with a knife the same day or so that lanza kid mowed down 20+ kids and teachers.

do you think lanza would have massacred as many kindergarteners had he used a fork?
Why would he have to use a fork when he could build a bomb? Dumb chinese.

I think people should be able to own a B-52 bomber if their wallet permits.

However the bombloads, conventional or otherwise, i am perfectly content leaving in the exclusive control of the military. Just allow me the belted .50 for the radar-operated tailguns. cn

and a good number of those people will either lack the smarts to build a bomb, blow themselves up making the bomb, not even bother with doing what it takes to make a bomb, or get busted procuring materials and doing research on how to make a bomb.

stealing your mom's unsecured guns and mowing down a classroom full of kindergarteners is much easier.

But it removes the special satisfaction innate in darkly mumbling "I'm'a FORK you up." cn

Yeah! A woman who thought her son was crazy enought to be committed didn't lock hers up good enough.

If only the government had tougher consequences than death, she might have locked them up better.

I think a lengthy and girthy stay in Ass-kabang Prison might just qualify. cn

So is stealing a truck with a snow plow and plowing kids down on the schools sidewalk when school lets out..it actually sounds much easier than stealing a bunch of guns, busting into a school and shooting kids 1 by 1.

Let ban trucks...No! Ban plows.

ever driven a gun down the interstate?

your attitude seems to be that shit happens, so let's do nothing. a couple dozen slain kindergarteners is just the price you guys have to pay to deal with my retartedness.

a simple gun safe would have prevented all this.
